I think this tournament is going to take up all of August/September and then I see next season starting, with fans on January 1st.

Jimbo prediction.

Players informed today Phase III (training camps) won’t start before July 10.

It won't start up again until mid August at this point. I wonder how late the 2021 season will start

if I were running Buffalo, and I was going to trade Jack Eichel, it would have to be a trade that ultimately solves my problems

I'd insist on a goalie and probably would hold out for Shesterkin

- jimbo83

It would take: Kakko, Georgeiv, 2020 1st round, NHL caliber depth player, Top C propsect in system....

and it would be worth every penny

After taking almost 4 months off now for this, you think they would take another 2-3 and start in January? I would hope maybe they could push for December/ late November to get in as many games as possible next season

Yeah, make next year a shortened schedule by as few games as possible, and then go back to normal until JRR releases some other virus on us all

If concern is over second round of pandemic in late-fall, early-winter, that timeframe makes a lot of sense. Season ends late-August, then 2-3 months or so break, training camps and start of season.

I am curious how long this playoff format will take. Usually in the playoffs you get days off inbetween games and multi days off for travel days. Since there will be no travel i wonder if they can just play every other day and don't need to take days off in between rounds

The zamboni driver they hire to work this hub city is going to get his money worth. He will be cleaning the ice for about 4 games a day

Yeah, I agree. Not saying Eichel isn't worth it, but I don't think the Rangers are the right team for that trade. They should look for a team that is just going to start their rebuild.

I mean, you think about Shesty, if he was in the draft this year, he could very well go #1 overall

if I was running Buffalo, I'd insist on him, they need him badly

Been hearing that too. Jan 1 is opening day/night 20-21 season, ironically it wouldn’t be 2020-21 🤷🏻‍♂️ This season isn’t ending til late September

They really don’t even need to be concerned about when it starts, in fact I’d say wait out as long as possible for this second wave of covid to pass, or wait for a vaccine/therapeutic before they start up again imo. They need fans in buildings for all 82 games next year

I wouldn't include Shesty in ANY deal, but I would look to give up the kitchen sink for very few players ---- Eichel is one of them. 23 year old superstar center signed long term for all of his prime years. He IS worth a lot, and would hope Gorton would be all over this if he demands to be moved out of Buffalo.

I guess you must have missed his 110 point total... No one else is even sniffing at 100. Drai had one horrible month in december where the entire team played like poop and he went like -20.

Buddy, Draisaitl is amazing.
But there were going to be 5 hundred point players this year. And the Wizard of NY was on pace for 113. The trophy is supposed to go to the MVP to his team. There are arguments for all of them.
In my opinion, McDavid's presence plays against Draisaitl. Just as Zibanejad's 41 goals in 57 games does to Panarin. My choice is MacKinnon.

Eichel needs to do something about the fro, without a haircut its a non-starter for me

Eichel needs to do something about being a prissy, little female dog who wants to run the show.

I just think he is frustrated with 5 years of losing and the mediocrity of the franchise. I hear you Tony, but I'll cut him some slack..

Just because we are all bored, I'll play the devil's advocate to this and I somewhat believe this take anyway. For a guy like Eichel, I would include Shesty in a trade. Goalies are notoriously fickle and we are really deep at the position from an organizational standpoint. Not that elite goalies grow on trees, but it does seem like in general it's somewhat easier to get a quality starter than it did in the 80s and 90s.

Eichel is a true superstar and would give you a legitimate 1-2 punch down the middle you could build around to compete with similar tandems in Pittsburgh, Toronto, and Tampa. Although Hank came close in 2014, I think it's alot easier to put a solid starter behind a great team and that team win, than just put a solid team in front of an elite starter and try to win. People will disagree about assessments of guys like Crawford and Quick, and flower probably gets in the HOF even if he might not deserve it, but I can't remember the last time a truly transcendent goalie won a cup in this league. Osgood/Hasek?
