Yeah, this is really turning into a cluster@#%&. I was all for restarting the season, or just starting the playoffs, but this is ridiculous. The games won't start until August, and won't end until Oct. When are they going to hold the draft? How do they work free agency? There has to be an off season and a training camp before next year, so when does next season start? I can't see them starting next season before mid-December.

I am now with you in thinking that they should have just canceled the rest of this season.

I believe the league has already stated that they a willing to delay the start of "next" season until mid-Dec if needed.

It is what it is. If they find a way to get this 24-team set-up to work, I will surely watch. If they don't, I'll wait until they can start playing again. I don't personally understand all the hand-wringing. They are like tons of other businesses trying to find ways to open and be profitable under these new conditions. All sports leagues are doing the exact same thing.

Bring it on I say. I give them credit for trying to spice it up a bit and bring some sense of normalcy back to our existence.

I miss sports so so much.

One argument for not burning a year off of Mitchell's ELC this season (assuming the league allows recently signed ELCs to start now) is to have 3 full seasons of cost certainty at an affordable price especially given how much money is being lost now and possibly in the near term.

Only those in the know really know? There could be getting into "breach of contract" areas if it was portrayed to him he would play if allowed and then Chicago did something else? A contract takes a meeting of the minds and verbal contracts are binding.

Oh, I'm happy, and will certainly watch. I just don't know how they are going to work all of this. I hadn't heard of the mid-December start before, so obviously that's already been addressed.

Expect the NHL and NHLPA to push back the June 1 signing deadline one month. The league and PA need more time to negotiate possibility of entry level players like Alex Romanov being allowed to play when/if 2019/20 season resumes.

The situation is one where both sides are co-operating and trying to iron out these sorts of decisions, and NOT having roadblock type issues that work against a common goal...what an NHL team or many NHL teams with players who have signed their newbies deals and the players their agents and the teams agree to are still subject to higher ups, and it looks like the higher ups are gonna work with the teams (and therefore the players&agents) to make things work...kinda the reverse of our national unco-operativeness where gamesmenship/divisievness takes precedence over working towards a goal.

The latest ranking by Wiz on draftsite.cim has Raymond moving up. Sanderson up; Lundell and Askarov about the same. But are they going to be selected before Halloween. Alright, after Labor Day!

There’s nothing stopping you from hiding alone in basement with food and water supplies for the next several months. If that’s what makes you feel “safe”.

And how you gonna talk about the lengthy process that’s going to delay the start of next season(understandably)...and then at the same time claim they are “rushing”? By late July/early August when the games actually start the virus will be contained and controlled much more so than it is now, and we’re already seeing things trend in a positive direction as a country. Imagine how much better the situation will be 2 months from now...

Ya that's great for them .And if there is a 2nd wave all that pricey PPE will have been better used in hospitals then hockey rinks .
No other hockey league is trying to finish their season . The timing is ridicules . Let it go . If they do manage to clear all the hurdles ,it will be interesting to see the quality of hockey that is played . I very much doubt it will be Stanley Cup hockey . More integrity scraped off thee old Jug

I really hope it works out but knowing the NHL and the poop show known as the player safety department, they can't even get the game misconduct call correct, let's just say i won't be surprised they'll some how some way (frank) this whole thing up.
