Too close, that only gives maybe an hour or so at most to redo the ice. The average game is 2h 20 minutes in the regular season, that means that if the first game starts at 4pm, has a lot of stoppage and goes to double-OT you ain't starting your 2nd game before what, 10 pm, 9 if you decide to play on the ice that was just used for way too long?

That's a logistic nightmare.

Edit: Plus, you also have to suit the players. Takes time to get ready but you need to let the previous team take their stuff and leave too, and with the covid situation you are probably trying to disinfect the locker rooms between each team. How do the players deal with the uncertainty of when the game starts, since it affects their sleeping and eating patterns (one assumes)?

The ice will be much, much better with no fans in the building.

Nice for Vancouver get to host if this all happens...Toronto is screwed to host thanks to all the a-holes that just jacked our covid numbers up because they are so dumb that they don't know what the phrase social distancing means

One thing is certain and that is the two cities will be Canadian simply because of the Canadian dollar operating at an all time low. Vancouver and Edmonton very likely I would think. Great dollar value, virus pretty much under control and facilities to keep things safe. No fans anyway so why does it really matter??

Yes, average NHL arena capacity is 17,456 and the average body temperature is 98.6F so arenas should be approximately 1,721,161 degrees cooler than usual if you do the math

Very Interesting but whatever Bonnie Henry says I am on board. Our province is the benchmark in taking on the virus.

I realize that no fans would indicate no home ice advantage, but I would think there still would be an advantage to a team playing in their own barn. So, if I were the NHL, I'd have two hubs, on in the Eastern Conference and one in the Western Conference and I'd have the East play in the West's barn and vice versa.

Sure, the advantage may be slim to none, but I'd think playing in your own arena would give teams a sense of comfort or familiarity that could make a difference.

Just a thought.

Hey nighthawk ! What a tough internet name . He played golf after he went to two memorial services . Barry used to fly to Hawaii for his golf so what’s your point other than being a Canadien who has Trump derangement
syndrome.

A point of order, my friend. You objected to politics being introduced here (fair enough) but responded in kind with a bunch of political bullpoop, which of course needs to be cleared up.

Obama did not"fly" or "used to" go golfing in Hawaii. Their family takes their vacation in Hawaii over Christmas break/NY break, and has continued to do so every year. ALL his Hawaii golfing trips were when he was already there on vacation, in two weeks of the year around that time, every single year. That's only about 5% of his golfing trips. The rest were all on the East Coast.

You can check for yourself: https://trumpgolfcount.com/displayobamaoutings

Trump frequently criticized Obama for going golfing. Including after the 2nd death in the US due to Ebola. He also criticized Obama for excessive golfing, period.

Trump went golfing after about 100000 deaths. He has also golfed much more than Obama during the same time frame.

As such, we are forced to conclude based on nothing more than stone cold facts, that the charge of pathological hypocrisy on Trump's part has a lot of merit.

It’s ridiculous to expand the playoffs but still have the 8 extra teams still qualify for the lottery.

It’s like they’re calling it playoffs to exclude the bottom 7 teams but calling it a play in and not the playoffs for draft purposes.

I’m not angry. It’s a tough situation. Just seems hard on the bottom 7 who will go the longest without playing.

- Queenie_5_hole

They don't. Only the 15 teams that DONT qualify for actual playoffs will be in Lottery.

guessed you missed the 10000 times it was explained that teams that were out didn't want to come back and finish season. and that teams that where only 1 point out and even in a playoff spot should not be out of the playoffs with 12 games still to play. they did the only thing they could. they expanded the number of teams to include a playin and then get get to the final 16. montreal ny and Chicago are in cause for this to work mathematically you needed a multiple of 8. so either 16 (wasn't going to happen) 24 or 32 (couldn't happen). so 24 it is.
- ffh

20 works & not a multiple of 8
12 teams in 8 in a play in.

11 in the lottery vs 7.
Can include 4 losers of the play in or not.
