I was hoping for governments to infuse a bit of common sense into it but it seems professional athletes have been named essential workers in the states now.
- stinger67

chances are, by the time they are ready to resume play, we'll be right in the middle of the 2nd wave. we'll all be back inside watching tv. it's a brilliant plan in reality.

Borders are closed right now. At this rate, I wouldn't open the Canada-US border this summer. Should be the same for European travellers.
- stinger67

I think it's easier to manage when you know exactly where these travelers are and what they're doing

maybe it's so the eliminated teams still feel involved. Whatever the reason it's dumb.

Also, it's a 24 team playoff but the playoffs don't start until there are 16 teams

THAT....and the fact they want some TV revenue and excitement NOW (or June, as this is scheduled)....as opposed to July/August. They figure eyeballs and attention will be on them anyway once they get going....so this is a way to garner some attention sooner when there is no other competing sports.

I don't get why some people are mad, there's going to be some hockey, if you don't agree with the format just don't watch it. There's some great 1980 reruns on TV for them

Ottawa Police say a 17 year-old driver from Gatineau (Pat1993) with 14 previous traffic charges in the first five months of 2020 was stopped for speeding this week. #ottnews

love the format actually. they should keep it for futures seasons. maybe play a 72 game season instead of 82. and best of 7 for the 1st round.
it's playing hockey in July August I have problem with. but hey, I'm an old (frank)

Oh for sure, but I'm not gonna be a child and boycott it or rip the idea to sh!t because the format doesn't suit my personal wishes, there was really no way of doing it "right".... but yes I'd sacrifice that spot for a guaranteed top 10 pick, beating Pittsburgh could potentially push them all the way back in the late teens or further depending on what eventually would follow

I am afraid of those (frank)ers pulling an upset in the qualification round only to fail after and screw their draft at the same time. That would be very...Habs

So if everything goes to plan, the 20/21 season would start in January? Maybe February? Sorry if it was mentioned, I didn't actually read the whole proposed format...

that's why I said from the start, 2 months ago, cancel next season all together, and resume this one next year in February. finish the regular season and play 'nornal' series as we know it. with fans in attendance.

Anything short of a cup would be a big step backwards and a cup is very, very unlikely... so yes, it worries me, it's not worth the gamble... maybe they can trade the playoff spot lmao!!

Ummm I don't like the idea of canceling next season at all and I dont see a need anyway... aim for an early September finish if everything goes to plan this year and start a 40 game season in mid February 2021
