Who is worried about Bye week? Like, we’ve been on a bye week for two months. Penguins play the Habs, regardless of who wins, they get their skating legs under them and work to a disadvantage for us. - SuperSchennBros

I read a recent study where 318 of clusters of COVID-19 infections were looked at. A cluster is where an infection started and was passed onto a group of people. In 317 out of 318 cases, the infection was passed indoors. We are safer outside than inside.
Even if there wasn't a pandemic, the human body needs to be outside. - MJL
BINGO!!
You have a better chance of getting eaten by a shark than you do of catching WuFlu outside on a beach in the sun. |

probably both
to me it's the death count that matters
or rather, the number of people who died whose deaths could have been avoided if the people around them took certain precautions
NHL teams have the resources and the motivation to do things the right way. Unfortunately there's people in all 50 states who don't - Coburns_Nose
How can you calculate that statistically?
And if you are truly concerned about it at heart you should stake out nursing homes as majority of the cases in almost every state are NH residents. They definitely should not have been exposed to the virus as the live in controlled environment. |

Exactly. There a 5 states that insisted WuFlu patients go into nursing homes: NY, NJ, PA, MI, MN. All of them have very high majorities of mortality in nursing homes. In PA, it's close to 70%. Today I heard that it's close to 80% in MN. How can anyone NOT see the correlation here? It's obvious to the average sane person.
What do we know at this point? Well, we know the WuFlu is bad for people over 65. We know that it's virtually imperceptible for people under 30. Between those two, sickness may occur but death is exceedingly low unless you have a co-morbidity that compromises your immune system. Knowing what we know, it's clear that we protect the vulnerable, but everyone else should go about normal life. And that includes healthy, young professional athletes. And everyone else. It's simply not the Armageddon that we've been sold by the panic porn operatives in the media and politics.
I want hockey back and I want it ASAP. People that don't wish to go to games should not. Others, make a calculated risk based upon your own personal situation. No replacement for being free. |

The difference between us- I do not 2019/2020 hockey back. It's not fair to the athletes who did not practice, and who will be more susceptible to injuries. And I do not want to lose a guy like Giroux or Provy for the next season due to money NHL tries to salvage.it's not fair to the coaches that now have to whip out of hockey shape and timing players into something marketable. It's not fair to the fans, who will be watching slop fest on ice. Just call this season dead and let's move on. |

I can see your point. It's the players who may have a different view. I agreed with you until I heard this. I listened to a Spitten Chiclets (highly recommended) podcast with Kevin Hayes. He emphatically stated a desire to come back to play because of the HUGE cap hit they will have to take with $1.5B in lost revenues. He said that players like him with big contracts will be OK, but the other players in the middle and and the bottom will be really hurt. He knows that hurting those players hurts the game and their overall future earnings. When you see the reality from their point of view, it becomes clear that they DO want to play. And I agree with them considering the science of the real effect of the WuFlu. It's not nearly as bad as we've been sold. |

I'm with you on just about everything however, at this point in time, they can't do it with fans. Yes, we need to open up but it needs to be done smartly. They can't hold games with fans yet. Too soon for that.

I think you're assuming a lot of things. I don't think it would take that long for the players to get back into hockey shape. It's different from the way it used to be. Players don't get out of shape and use training camp to get in shape. I also don't think we can automatically assume that it won't be good hockey either.

that fully changes perspective if that the will of the majority.
We need more of the players/ coaches opinions, so that we can understand their reality better |

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that overwhelmingly, they want to play. No doubt.

Well, not picking up a debate with you, but you are arguing my assumption with yours. That's a road to nowhere.
In my previous post I conceded that if players need to play in order to protect their gild, "Let the games begin!" |

Well, as of the vote yesterday, 29 of 31 teams have agreed to open up. Not sure if that qualifies as a majority? [sarcasm] |

Sounds like that’s it. They play each other once. I can’t wait to watch hockey again. |

You started walking down the road first. That's the point. More like you ran down it rather than walking. It's not fair to the players, we're going to lose Giroux to injury, not fair to the coaches, blah, blah, blah. The league needs to play not not lose a billion plus bucks.
