We’re in winter mode.

If you can’t survive off just the locals, you’re probably a seasonal business here anyways. There’s really not a lot of businesses here, lol..

Long may you runnnn, long may you run...

Yeah. It’s tiny, gritty. Cold af in the winter. Miserable. It’ll put hair on yer chest the locals will say.

Yeah I don't know where you are but there are a shyte ton of places that depend on summer business to stay open, and its mostly cottage towns.
- bobbyisno1

Gravenhurst/Bracebridge.

Neither town really relies on cottagers. Bracebridge more so. The people that live here have full time jobs that don’t depend on cottagers. The contractors need business and they’re still getting it. There really aren’t a lot of places to shop here. Restaurants will definitely suffer, but not so much in Gravenhurst/Bracebridge..

Yeah I don't know about Gravenhurst, but a lot of towns rely on the summer influx. Tweed and Madoc are two of them.

Speaking of (frank)in middle of nowhere Ontario, anyone know what blind river is like? My boy signed to play junior A there next year. Organization seem A1 but I'm getting the impression the town is a pothole. 🤷‍♂️

Friend from the soo had a cottage (or camp as they called it) there

It really is. We moved when I was a kid but I went back every summer. My parents were practically pioneers. My mom was born in a little town in 1914 where her dad bought a hotel on what had been the Klondike trail. In 6 months the town went bust and they bought a farm. My dad went up in ‘29 after he got wiped out of the little money he had in stocks. He practiced law going up and down the Peace in a paddle boat with a Judge and Crown Attorney stopping in and trying whatever cases were there.

That’s a world ago but my parents. Crazy

If you subtract the economic contributions they make through the purchase of goods and services, your economy would be devastated.

If you subtract the property taxes they provide, every single municipality would be bankrupt.

I'm not stating this to be a pr!ck - I'm stating simple economic facts.

Toronto would be dead without the financial services industry.

The Greater Golden Horseshoe would be dead without advanced manufacturing.

Ottawa would be dead without civil service dollars.

Niagara region without tourism.

He isn't going to understand and if, by chance, he does have an epiphany, he will just pretend he doesn't understand. You might as well be discussing something with Tanner or UG. It is the same thing.

For a Nuck fan, you should know this. Bure was picked at #113 in the 6th round after Detroit tried to pick him in the 5th round but were told that he was not eligible for the draft.

Yes 6th round mistaken post. He was eligible in the 1st 3 rounds but according to eligibility rules the league was wrong. Canucks did their research the Wings didn’t.

Knee injuries shortened his electric career. Nobody like him til McDavid arrived.
