First of all tyler (justin...lol), you have done an incredible job not only being consistant in providing blogs during this pandemic...but in providing interesting, informative and relevant material when there was very little to report!

Now, on to the re-start.

1. From a purely common-sense point of view. I think they should table the whole season, come back in the fall or winter and try to salvage NEXT season. But. Everyone knows in sport...."Dollars n Cents" will prevail over "common sense" all 7 days a week.

2. Now that they are planning to re-start. I would have rathered they had a format that left the hawks in a 7-team lottery to grab a stud (potential) and let 24 OTHER teams play the gimmick Stanley Cup tourney. But, seems Hawks are in....so, no point whining about that.

3. If Hawks are in. I like Oilers as well as any other team for the Hawks foe...for 2 main reasons....first, we have at least an ok chance to beat them. They can't play defense any better than us, and goaltending is suspect. and secondly, should be damn entertaining...little defense, lots of speed and lots of skill.

Bring it on...Let's go Hawks!!!

Congrats on #400, Tyler! Thanks for always stirring debate and growing my Hawks knowledge and interest in the sport. Really appreciate the respect you and Theo show for all of your readers, regardless of their fan bonafides!

To any on the board who've lost loved ones in battle or as a result of their service, a tip of my cap in gratitude to them and to you.

Remember back in the 60's when Arthur or Bill Wirtz had you pay to see the home playoff games shown in one of the downtown theatres.

I would like to see the Hawks in the playoffs just like everyone else. This team as currently constructed has no business being in the playoffs. This 24 team playoff format is a gimmick by the NHL. I would rather have the 9th pick or the possibility of moving up in this year's draft speeding up the rebuild process. However the allure of playing meaningful games for some of the younger players on the team can be beneficial moving forward. Either way i will be excited to watch hope everyone stays healthy and safe. Congrats on #400 TC!

Best case scenario is what Wiz was saying a few days ago...the Hawks can win their play-in series against Edmonton, and lose the next round, and still get pick 9. Idk if it will work that way, but it would be nice to get the young guys to get up to 12 playoff-type games AND the #9 pick.

Don't think Mitchell can play unless they've changed that.

If that's the case, I would do:

Keith - Boqvist
de Haan - Murphy
Maatta - Koekkoek

It won't be pay-per-view. We would have heard some whispers by now.

He can't play. I would play Carlsson before Special K. Carlsson is the future.

I doubt they would go with pay per view for this reason. If hockey can be first sport back (sorry NASCAR and PGA), it could mean huge viewing numbers. This could mean millions of potential new fans. If that carries on to next year, the NHL could get a big boost in TV revenue. If they go with PPV, they will lose the casual fan, and numbers will go down.
- tvetter

NASCAR audience is bigger than hockey. At one time it was the biggest audience of all sports.

I would also roll with those D pairs initially and have Carlsson, Beaudin, Gilbert, Krys, and McCoshen as the Black Aces. There's Seeler, too.

Wonder if Mitchell can at least practice with the team, just not play?

Practicing and being around a playoff atmosphere isn't the same thing as playing in the games but still great experience for the youngsters.

I suspect Stan would have rather missed the playoffs and been in the running for higher picks but didn't say that to Rocky or Danny.

While I would love to see Carlsson ahead of Koekkoek, not sure if Colliton would see it that way. We shall see and would be very cool if that happened!

Future playoff D pairs, though, could very well be:

Keith - Boqvist
Beaudin - Murphy
Carlsson - Mitchell

Agree on Carlsson ,over Special K .Could always have K as plan B . Not a fan of this opening up ,but still a fan and will watch from the safety of my home . If Crow is on his game and young players take a step in this 2nd season who knows .I will have the pom poms at the ready ..

McCoshen sucks.
- Elbows15

The way I see it, if Koekkoek and Seeler are on the big club, then having McCoshen as a practice squad member isn't a big deal. Much rather McCoshen than say Osipov or Brennan. He may even have seniority over at least Krys.

Koekkoek, Seeler, and McCoshen are still raw around the edges but give an honest effort, play physical, and skate at least average.

Then again, I'd rather have Tuulola as a Black Ace than McCoshen. Tuulola has grown quite a bit since last season. Prototypical stay-at-home defender with a nasty streak.

Both McCoshen and Tuulola are RFAs. McCoshen likely seeks a better opportunity elsewhere but wouldn't mind re-signing Tuulola especially with Shea deciding to become an NCAA free agent.

I guess Cuomo has Killed enough seniors in nursing homes so he is ready allow professional athletes to resume playing

Since professional athletes playing a sport are not over 70 years old there really isnt any more risk to them dying than there is from a car crash
