Tampa voted "No" because they were originally suppose to meet the Leafs. An easy series win. They got screwed....don't play the Leafs now...

Format where TB plays Leafs was never on the table. Tampa objects to a round robin that could result in them slipping from their #2 seed. Most teams in similar situations agreed to format anyway. McDavid was in the committee that came up with idea that could hurt Edmonton. Maybe TB is nervous about first rounds in general.

Please quit reinforcing NF cliches that we know aren’t really accurate for most of the population.

Alex Killorn was their rep, but I would suspect that because it was a players association vote he was just relaying all/majority of Tampa players wishes not just making a vote based on only what he wants.

Apparently their concern was that the team's not involved in the play-ins would be at a disadvantage due to not playing and being rusty while the other teams playing in the play-Ins would be more up to speed and have an advantage.

The whole idea is just about the stupidest thing they could have done. It is dumb in every way. In fact, I don't think they could have come up with a system that more completely shafted the 16 teams in a playoff position for the benefit of 8 non-playoff teams.

I understand why they're doing 24 teams. I don't like it much, but I get it and willing to accept it if they did it right.

I don't like the notion that some team play play ins and others either wait for that to finish or play amongst each other to determine top end seeding. And some rounds are best of 3 or 5 and then others are best of 7.

Some teams play an extra round against a team that was not in a playoff position. The other half gets rusty. 8 teams benefit by getting an undeserved shot. 16 teams shafted one way or the other.

Agreed.

If 24 teams, then play 24 teams evenly (as much as possible) not play some in one format then change format and play others.

Not sure it would matter - the decision was probably made at a higher level. I don't agree with this format, but Tampa gets a bye so their objection would be based on the notion of fairness rather than matchups IMO.

I don't like this format either, but it is what it is. Plus, who knows why they or Carolina voted the way they did.
