I actually think it is a huge disadvantage for the teams with a bye round. There is a huge advantage to having played real hockey against a weaker opponent while higher ranked teams are still in training camp mode.

Also remember, the best the hardest working, most talent filled team in the league... you think the past 2 months Sid hasn't been on everyone's ass to stay prepared?

No idea how anyone can complain... at least there is hockey!

Anecdotally, back in 2016 my wife and I booked a trip to Nova Scotia for vacation in January. I told her that I thought the Pens could win the cup that year, so we should be prepared to abandon plans to head to Cole Harbour for a Crosby parade.... they won and his parade coincided with the Halifax potion of the stay, amazing experience.

Why do I bring this up...? A week ago my wife started making plans for another east coast trip including Nova... now the NHL is coming back... stars are aligning... I want another parade!

Ha! How’s it going dawg?
- Victoro311

Its going, man. Just navigating strange and weird times the best I can. Where I live, in my province (state), not just city, we have now gone 16 days straight with no new infections with only 3 active all of which are in hospital....so hopefully that all equates to me playing hockey again soon haha. Between a combo of floor and ice, I was playing 3 to 5 times a week...then...wham....not at all.

Hope you're keeping well as well. Hope everyone here is.

I'm in the province next to Nova Scotia, little more east. Right now we're saying no travel allowed to our province unless its essential. When someone does travel here they have to self isolate for 14 days, even if no symptoms, before going out in public. Pretty sure Nova Scotia is much the same. Obviously in time this sh!t will lift but not sure when. Just a heads up for travelling/travel plans.

That’s good to hear. In DC there’s still conflicting analysis of the data, but it looks like at least the curve has flattened. There’s some hope that the mayor will announce phase one of reopening this week if the current trends continue. It’s a tough call all around but I hope the reasonable heads in the middle of the concern spectrum prevail. An immediate and total reopen is obviously a bad idea, and “old people die” shouldn’t be a serious argument in public discourse, but the people who want to keep shelter in place until there’s a vaccine are delusional. We really need to figure out a way to safely reopen in a timely manner before the entire service industry goes belly up and the only remaining companies in retail are the big fast fashion companies like Uniqlo and H&M. I don’t want to live in a world where everyone’s unemployed, the only place to grab a meal is McDonalds, and I’m forced to dress in poopty trendy clothes from East Asia.

Hahah man, I totally agree with all of that.

I think some things we're doing are correct and others are completely illogical. This is our action plan...we're in stage 4 (descends) right now until June 8th then stage 3 if things keep progressing well like they are. In my mind though if we go a straight 28 days of this stage 4 with no new infections and there isnt a single active case of it in our province...then why even stage 3? haha

I am a Habs fan and do not understand the accolades Price is getting. He gets way too much credit. When was the last time he stole a series? In actuality, he comes up small in big spots. He is not a clutch, big time goalie. Penguins should sweep. When I hear Price mentioned with Roy, all I do is laugh.

Yeah there's caution and then there's being overly anal about things to make a point. I don't know why some people are so keen on keeping the lockdown in place instead of pushing for antibody tests and working towards getting the immune and low risk back out into the real world while keeping stricter restrictions for the high risk demographics. I think antibody testing is more critical to reopening than positivity testing at this juncture.

Yeah, we won't be going anywhere unless things clear up, but thanks for the heads up. We were going to make the long drive there and book only rooms with cancellation.

Where are you that is east of NS? Hoping to hit up a bit of PEI and NB also.

A rested Price and Weber will be dangerous.

But it’s not only this. Montreal was in playoff position before the injuries. They have a winning road record. Guys like Domi and Gallagher should thrive in a playoff situation. There is absolutely no pressure because the last time they played, they were all but eliminated. This is like a free shot at the cup.

Habs were also 1-1-1 against the Penguins this season.

Obviously Pittsburgh should win, but this is not an easy matchup

I am happy hockey will be back. I miss the game. I miss watching the Pens. Can’t wait to see Guentzel back with Sid and add Zucker.

YES, they are getting screwed. They are IN a play-off safe position and they are being required to participate in a round that they could be eliminated from where others are not. That is getting screwed. Doesn’t matter who they play.

Anything can happen in the small sample size of a shortened playoff series that's already a small sample size to begin with. Would still much rather play Montreal than anyone who would have made the regular playoffs. I think Florida is probably the weakest overall team int he playoffs, but I'm fine with the Montreal pull.

Hey everyone. Bit of off topic here, but the penguins are doing a fan art competition, and I have an submission that I was hoping I could get some support for. If you have the penguins app on your phone, you can vote for it through there, but you can also follow this link:
https://t.co/msEqmRGwTS?amp=1

Click anywhere on the page that loads, and you'll be presented with a bunch of choices. Please vote for the penguin holding a hockey stick and wearing a scarf. Looks something like this:

I agree. They're better than their record indicates. Pens should be favored, but in a short series and everyone being rusty it's a bit more of a cheap shoot than I'd like. Just glad they get a chance though, with a healthy Guentzel this is a really good team aside from the bottom pairing.

Thing is, the strength of the Canadians isn't Price, it's their depth up front when healthy. But we can match that and have a big edge in star power.

I suppose this hasn't been decided, but if this is a play-in round and not the actual playoffs with the losers entered in the lottery, would that mean we get to use our 1st this year? The condition was it slides to next year if we miss the playoffs. Obviously hope it doesn't come to that, but would be at least some consolation.

Who is going to start for the Pens? Felt like Jarry was having a better year overall but Murray has the record.

Also wonder what the lines will look like... would there be a better line in the playoffs than Sid, Jake and Zucker?

Yohe said they want to try reuniting Guentzel-Sid-Sheary to see if they can refind their old chemistry. If they do that, lines are pretty easy to guess actually.

Guentzel-Sid-Sheary
Zucker-Malkin-Rust
Marleau-McCann-Hornqvist
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

Zucker is Hagelin with hands if his leg healed with the break because he wasn't at top speed, so hopefully he and Malkin could have similar chemistry.

Pretty much everyone reporting it will be Murray to start but not unlimited rope of he starts poorly.

I think so too....a lot of people have had this and dont know that they have.

I have reasons to believe that my family and I had it in February, but my city/province didnt shut down until middle of March. We all had fevers and different symptoms ranging from mild to very severe with my bro almost being hospitalized with pneumonia symptoms...

I'm in Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundland is the (huge) island portion I'm on and Labrador is the portion attached to the mainland that shares a border with Quebec. I'm about a 10 minute drive from my door to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. First place the sun rises for North America. Great place to take a lady after a late summer's night....

I'm not sure how much rope you can give a goalie in a five game series. One game?
