Some of the teams that got let in had virtually zero chance of making the playoffs. The only motivation for this is a money grab.

Going to 24 teams is the REAL reason the cup win would deserve an asterisk.

the thing is, I dont care so much about it being 24 teams. Going back to original 6 you had 4/6 making the playoffs, in the 80s it was 16/21...none of those have asterisk.

this is a unique situation. The other things is, the playoffs are a very different thing compared to the reg season, rarely does the "best team" in the reg season win the cup. And sometimes a historically dominant team goes out 0-4.

The Reg season imo doesnt have a lot to do with the playoffs, the rules get changed, what gets called gets changed..so I dont give a poop who they let in.
