So if I’m understanding this armchair GMing thing, 3 absolute garbage players net you a solid player in Kapanen PLUS a 1st, and then some.

This guy must’ve helped with the Turbo trade 🙄

Guilty as charged. Yes, the trades are admittedly over zealous tilting to one side. See my previous post with additional commentary.

And if I were in charge of the Bickell trade to the Canes, I would not have included Teravainen. And that's not a 20/20 hindsight perspective. Hated that trade at the time, still hate it now.

There is also a WSJ article about confrontations in stores when a customer belligerently refuses to wear a face mask - and what employees should do about them. There was at least one shooting death of a retail worker when a customer was refused admittance, and several attacks on retail employees.

I post these not to argue against opening up - but to point out that it isn’t just a “go or no-go” decision: for instance, how should probably close to minimum-wage employees handle these kinds of situations?

I was OK with the deal at the time - would have like to keep Teravainen, but I’m not sure who else they could have moved as a sweetener to get rid of Bickell’s cap hit.

The Hawks (in the summer of 2016, after losing in 7 to the Blues) were still in “win now” mode - and Teravainen had not yet developed his potential as a 20-60 player. IIRC, he also had developed a reputation for not putting in enough effort in the off season - or at least that was Hawk management’s impression.

He also didn’t have a stellar season in 2016-17 in Raleigh.

I remember commenting at the time - Teravainen was one of those players who wouldn’t come into his own until later in his career - and that although I thought he probably would at some point, the Blackhawks couldn’t wait for him to do so.

It looks as though a two city 12 team each in a hub city idea is the one they are going to decide upon to day.

I threw that plan and how it worked up a blog or two ago.

I just want the final decision on the June trade and the idea if being in the 24 team gift changes the Blackhawks starting out slot of nine.

Probably not enough going Toronto’s way, however Nylander could end up being better than Kapanen and Kampf is a solid fourth line center. It also saves the Leafs about $1.4M

I’m guessing crime as a whole is down for obvious reasons. There’s our silver lining.

Negotiations haven’t gone well, the Canucks don’t want to give Markstrom the term he’s looking for.

-Darthkane

FWIW Markstrom just had a new Canucks mask painted. I know that's pocket change for an NHL player, but I doubt he'd do that if he was expecting to leave.

Unfortunately in CA the car accidents we are having are more catastrophic because everyone is going 100+ since the highways are actually open.

So EK is stating that the league will use a 24 team playoff, and the top six teams from each division will be eligible. This format leaves the Hawks out of the playoffs, is this favorable? On the one hand it gives the Hawks an opportunity to move up in the draft, however it would also be good for the young guys to get some playoff experience. The latter obviously would be good for the young guys, and the former does not guarantee that we move up in the draft. Thoughts?

So stiffs like Buffalo, Montreal and Anaheim get in and the Hawks and Rangers are out?

Oh well, the boys can go out and work on their golf games.

Per EK, this is most likely plan and Hawks would be outside looking in....they are 7th

The final touches are being put on a plan and here is what I am told is the most likely scenario....

* The top 6 teams (based on winning percentage) in each division would play a round-robin where each team would play the other 5 teams once...

* The two teams with the best records after this would be given a bye in the first round.

Also read that the six teams in each group would start with points based on their regular season standing before the round robin begins. 1st place team would get 5 points, 2nd place 4 points etc down to the 6th place team getting 0 points. This gives the top teams a leg up to advance to the next round.

The Hawks proved this year they were ever much the stiff as buffalo or Montreal and have no real case for being a playoff team. Without stellar goal tending for much of the year the Hawks would be looking at a top 2 or 3 pick. Don't think Detroit was within reach.

Put the Hawks in a 7 team lottery for the draft is much preferred over any tourney they have ZERO chance to win. No matter HOW they format this "New" playoff structure, I hope the Hawks are outside looking in and put in a much more favorable draft position.

Hawks would be out before you could blink, so I would rather be one of the 7 NOT in. Worse case....we get 7th overall pick, any luck at all....maybe top 3 or 5 pick!

My daughter and her family live in North Hollywood, and I have to say LA drivers seem in control on the faster roads, like they are confident in their stopping ability and are at very least WATCHING what they are going.
I drive a lot and the trip to visit the other kids in Lockhart ,Texas (near Austin) is one I make then on to Chicago and then back to St. Petersburg, FL and no state is not littered with idiots who want to use the right lane to gangster in even if the entire highway is moving at 77 mph, and drivers texting it is scary the number of people doing it.
