Ryan Ellis is almost the same size as Bryson.

I'm definitely not saying Bryson is going to turn out to be like Ellis, but his size should not be held against him.

- kingcong39

What?
Of course it can
There’s only a handful of defensemen that size who have been decent in the NHL

So yeah, it’s a factor
A guy like Ellis is the exception, not the norm

Well don't think any of us can say yes or no, have to see it.
- Buff36

Which goes back to my original post about it
I’ve gotta see Bryson getting called up & playing well here before I’d even consider him for a roster spot

Let’s at least see him start tearing up the AHL
That would be a good next step for him

I see ppl trading Risto & Montour & McCabe and plugging in Borgen or Bryson into our lineup next year...
and i just think that’s very premature

Mad? No. You're just wholly unoriginal. You're the one that made it gay. One track mind maybe? Where in that message do you get that it was supposed to be a guy?

That was only the 7 most obvious names, and I have no idea how many guys between 5'8 - 5'10 are in the overall pool of those who have tried.

Still,
the point is that it’s not the norm by any means

He’s a good skater, but not elite
And he’s only been moderately successful in the AHL

I’m not saying he absolutely can’t be a player for us
But I’m not counting on it
And we definitely need to see much more from him before we can reasonable consider it

Two misdemeanors and from what I've heard he was pulled over towing a trailer with an ATV on it with an open beer between his legs. I hardly consider it a huge deal. It's not like he was out racing or wrecking a sport car. I told a few guys about it today and each one was like "been there" , "meh" , or "who hasn't done that? " The NFL surely will look at it differently, but pending the results I see 1 game at most.

Yep, still a stupid thing to do to put that much money at risk though.

The whole “NuttyLove” thing maybe?
When my wife wants me to do the wild thing, she doesn’t say “hey big boy, let’s have some nutty love.”

IDK, I guess gay sex wasn't the first thing that jumped in my mind when I read that. To be fair, I didn't pay super close attention to the link, more to the message itself.

The Europe vs. North America take had some interesting nuggets, Michael, especially that the Sabres have drafted more players from Scandinavia over the last three years than any other team.

In the first two rounds under Botts he picked C, Marcus Davidsson and 6-K in the second round in 2017 and Dahlin 1st overall in '18. The rest are all below that which includes four defensemen (a third-rounder in 2017 and three in a row in 2018--a 4th, 5th and 7th) and two wingers (a 7th-rounder in '17 and 5th in 2019.)

These are all long-term projects that they'll need to start making a decision on after next season (I believe) beginning with the 2017 group. It's really not a bad approach as lower-round picks are a very long shot to begin with and having an extra year to develop and decide whether they want to move forward with a player seems like a smart move.

Problem is unless they, or a college player, blow it up early we won't see the results of those later round picks beginning next year. And we know how rightfully impatient Sabres fans are right now.

Am very curious about this quote, however:

"It’s not enough to draft from these countries while still using an outdated methodology for finding players."

What makes their methodology outdated?

I wonder how LA feels about you trading one of their prospects in a deal with Vancouver?
