He's 23. He's behind Rielly, Muzzin, and Sandin. There's nothing dumb about recognizing he's (frank)ing never going to be better than any of those guys.
The only thing "dumb" is holding on to an asset that doesn't make the depth chart on his strong side.

You are assuming he can't play right side, which they mna switch him to.
What's dumb is trading a young asset to see his value go higher on another organization.
