I hope everybody who was able took a piece of ACB when I advised to about ten days ago. You're up about 65% if you did.

henrique is a buy out candidate for the ducks

easy pass

- navinrjohnson

He's a regular 40 point player with four years to go on a $5.85 contract. He's 30.

If we can get the Ducks to hold $2M I'd spend the time to talk turkey.

actually, on may 5 it was at $8.39 and it was in an $8-range for a few weeks surrounding that date before dipping to $5.80 on Wednesday.

That said, despite your inflated self-congratulations, I don't think anyone would argue with a 25% return on investment over that period.

Nice work.

I like the player...no reason to think that he couldn't be in that 40-50 point range for the next few seasons...possibly even more if he was flanked by skinner and Johansson/an additional top-six winger

Just overpay Carl Soderberg on a 1 or 2 year deal this summer

it's not a good deal proposal IMO

your giving up 2 of your top 4 center prospects for an aging center on a bad contract

Sure, if they'll retain salary, even better, but it's not necessary as the Sabres have the cap room, assuming they are not completely lost and understand they need to make trades due to their limited cap room.

if casey becomes a second line center you lose the trade

if pekar becomes a third line center, you lose the trade

it's a panic trade

if you want to get henrique, offer them mccabe and a 6th

solid 2 way center

decent wheels

solid pk player

makes almost 5 mil this season

fills second line center if cozens and casey is not ready, perfect 3rd line center if they are ready

doesn't cost assets

sweden connection for rasmus

How, this any different/better than a younger Henrique, without concessions fro the Ducks?

He isn't getting anywhere near that, and they don't need to go anywhere near that high.

Carl Soderberg's top 3 most likely UFA deals per Evolving Hockey:

1 year @ $2.6M
2 years @ $3.6M
3 years @ $4.3M

I think the premise, though, is in order to convince him to come to Buffalo, you're going to have to be north of that.

You are right that it would not cost as much as Ristolainen, Mittelstadat, and Pekar to get Henrique and Manson because you are taking back $10M in salary for those 2 from the Ducks.

Pekar is a Center? He's been playing wing and is almost assuredly a winger as an NHL player.

Josh Manson is also a better defenseman, as he's actually good at playing defense, and he's over a million cheaper than Ristolainen.

So north that you nearly double the projection? No sir.

You are not going to have to be so north that it will cost you $5.5M to $6M per.

It's a high debate if Pekar will even be a consistent, long term NHL player, let alone anything more than a 4th liner, and even more remote that he is a 3rd line Center.

As I said in my other response, it won't take that much to get both Manson and Henrique, or even Henrique himself.

I am beyond dubious on Mittelstadt ever becoming a 2nd line Center.

His drive is...highly questionable.

Overpay a bit, sure, but no way do you need to almost double his projected next contract, especially when he is going to be 35 before this year is over.

Also, he's been playing LW for Arizona...?

I am all for signing Soderberg as a UFA, but not at over $5M per.

Also, I would not stop at just bringing in one center.

They need to stop relying on any youthful output for this season and potentially next at the Center position. Repeating that thought process would be year three of the ongoing Center issue nonsense.

which is why Henrique makes sense...yes, I get that he's signed for four more years and that $5.85M is a hefty cap-hit for a player who ideally will be a third-line center in a year or two, but the team is buying a lot of time to properly develop players like mitts and cozens while also filling an immediate need

I think pekar's projected ceiling has him bottom-six at best with the likelihood of him being a good, solid, agitating fourth-liner...which I have absolutely no problem with
