Pommer scored a super clutch all time Sabres goal. Hopefully sam gets that opportunity.

Pommer coached his sons hockey team the first time around and played in the parent/ child game. Genuine good guy. Maybe that doesn't mean anything to some people, but I think its important. Especially being a parent.

Pommer- worked his way up thru Rochester after being waived. Overachiever.

Sam- Dad was an nhl player. Brother was an nhl player. Drafted 2nd overall. Not his fault

There style of play is somewhat similar. Both soft, but both show up and dress every game. An underrated quality in both guys. Sam definitely should bring this to the contract table.

Oh yeah - pommer was captain. Sam alternate to the alternate captain #leadership

Sam could improve and may not have peaked. He could still score more than pommer and also become captain.

Pommer was a great 2nd round pick. He was a talented support player, when the Sabres lost talent he became top-line talent here. He had 3 thirty goal seasons, He was a good player. I think in many other cities he would be "Pominville, oh yeah, I liked him, he was good" but here some want to make him more than he was.

I see a lazy backcheck here, Alfredsson returned the favor, except they went to the Cup.

If I had to make a choice Pominville in his prime or Sam I'd take Poms. Poms was a better goal scorer and didn't have to blow Jack or a reasonable facsimile to produce, well there was none and he was able to move along the roster and produce. He could play the point regularly on the PP which says he was trusted and he had some hands, vision, passing ability. Maybe someone can help me I can't remember if he was a Pker I think he was so more value there too.

Per Vogl

"I spoke with one executive whose club is among the bottom seven teams in the overall standings, and his impression was that his team wasn’t returning to play this season."
That group would include the Sabres.

Matches the information that has been shared the past week or two, which is the following two playoff formats that would start the return of play as the regular season would be considered over, are:

Top 10 teams from each conference, or
The top 12 teams from each conference

Jack became a more complete player away from Skinner. Get a player to compliment Skinner on the 2nd line and you have 2 good lines with the potential to have 3 with Kahun Cozens Mojo.
- Buff36

Bc he was away from Skinner,
or just the natural progression of a super talented player?

I think the latter
It’s not like Jack couldn’t backcheck (etc) bc Skinner was on his line

I like the Cozens line u suggest a lot
I’ve suggested the exact same thing as well

Whether it’s Skinner or Olofsson with a 2C we bring in...
i think either could work just fine

Pommer played with Vanek & Roy...
Hardly slouches

Also...
Why are we comparing Pommer & Sam?
It’s irrelevant

It unfortunately does make more sense than letting us & the Ducks in over NyR & the Hawks

Also,
the league would likely LOVE to have the TV markets of NYC & Chicago in the playoffs

Top12 in each is the best way to go imo
And it seems like the league is definitely leaning in that direction from all accounts

Would’ve been really cool for us to get a 3 game series vs the Leafs though😢😢😢

He played with others and neither was the level of Jack and it is my opinion that if I had to choose between one or the other I, me, my opinion is Pommer over the golden boy Sam, The ROOT!!

Most discussions, actually I would hazard to say 90% of what is discussed on message boards is irrelevant, maybe higher.

Except you don’t have to choose one over the other

It’s a dumb comparison

Either we can have Sam, or not
Can’t go back in time & get 2008 Pominville to take his place

And no, Pommer never played with Jack
But he always played with other good players & never had to “carry his line”

Not really
U don’t like Sam fine

Makes sense to make a comparison between him & who we might actually trade him for or replace him with... right???

That is totally irrelevant. It might seem like fun and kill time but that discussion has no relevance whatsoever in reality.

Also, if you are playing the kill time trade Reinhart game and see that Pommer was better and see what the Sabres got for him in a trade then it has some "relevance" in this killing time, BS discussion. Of course, one must ponder and realize that Pommer was older when he was dealt. See, I ponder, you flounder.

Like I said 90%, probably more, posted on message boards is irrelevant. Obviously you take my greatness much more seriously and relevant than I do. I don't even think my mirror takes it as seriously as you.

Should be interesting time between when Hockey comes back (July?) and the start of the '20-'21 season (Nov/Dec?)

Man, that is a boat load of time off for the teams that don't qualify...March -> Nov, about 8 months.

Should be ample time for Mitts, Tage, even guys like Rhino to improve their skating, or for those and more like Cozens, etc to build strength and have superb conditioning.

Should be no excuses for not seeing significant progress.

Probably add Dahlin to that list adding muscle and strength.

So looking like a mid- June draft, so if the 7 teams that don't make this 24 team playoff. Will those teams be the one's involved in a draw for the 1st pick.
