Who's in net for Buffalo in this throwback game from 99?
- chilliard77

The one against Toronto in the Conference Finals, it was Roloston. DOM took a shot to the knee in the Boston series.

Like you said, who knows what happens with the contracts.
I agree with Adam on the 1-2 year deals coming...but would Sam in particular want to do another bridge-type deal, or does he push hard with an Arbitration threat in his hip pocket...gotta believe Botts is going to be squimish after Erod was gifted $2.0m last season under the same cap of 81.5 if it is flat for next season.

If Sam is going to get big bucks, they would be nuts to re-sign him IMO.
Once these estimated contract values are plugged in, the tune changes rather dramatically on what you do.

Strome could be another example. I think $3.6m ( or whatever it was) is way too low...but could it happen under a flat cap... sure...but then that problem emerges as a bigger issue 2 years down the road wanting to get paidback...kind of what we see from Sam this offseason. It might be better in the long haul to lock him up longer at say $5.0 -$5.5m..he was on pace for 54 pts over 82.

Just kicking around thoughts.

- IonSabres

Strome will probably go the Sam route and sign a bridge deal 3.7-3.8 on a two yr deal IMO.

In my scenario I signed him for 3yrs at 3.5mill. Might be a little light, but only 26 or 27at the end, with a chance at a big payday.

Sorry for your loss bud.

Thanks. I was just point out its not just old people. And that there is a direct relationship between the curve of the death rate and people staying in.

IMO, unfortunately it falls under the same category as that person we all know that passes unexpectedly do to a heart attack. The person was healthy and showed no signs or symptoms of heart desease. In most cases always got a clean bill of health from their doctor. Things affect people differently. There is always a risk/reward.

Again sorry for your loss. 54 is to young to pass no matter the reason.

Nobody wants to seem to understand that.

I think Sam has two years before hitting UFA status. A one year deal might make the most sense for him to sign. 1yr $6m seems fair, and if he feels the team can somehow make it to the playoffs next year, he could get that $8m contract that some feel he's worth.

I feel as though the majority do understand it.

The issue is the minority seem to ruling with mass hysteria.

At a minimum I feel as though he’ll only sign a 3yr deal and maximum 5 yr deal. Anything longer and he doesn’t get another big pay day.

Ek saying they players aren’t happy

Ahh players. You have been sitting on your butts for almost 2 months enjoying family time and getting paid a lot of money. So of course if they said “get back to work.” They would get mad

I like the idea of one year but $6 mil is probably the max I'd want to give him even long term

They aren’t happy because they’re out of shape.

They're not happy about quarantining from their families for 3 months, which is understandable. That being said, there's a huge difference between not being happy and refusing to do it.

Bidet.

One of the best investments I’ve made.

I didn't save it...and it was likely off as well as I think I used $7.25m for Sam rather than the projected 8 x $8.75 by Evolving Wild.

If I have some spare time over the weekend I might try to update what I had.
I had something like:

Skinner Eichel Anderson
Kahun Strome Sam
Mojo - Cozens - ?
Asplund - Lazar - Okposo

Dahlin - ?
McCabe - Joker
Pilut - Borgen

Ullmark
Aaron Dell

I honestly can't remember the ?'s

- IonSabres

Sam is not getting anywhere near that deal they have projected.

Agreed.

I wonder if there is an opportunity to leverage this for the long term though.
I.e. Extend Dahlin for as long as you can for a "deflated" contract value.
Could be huge in the long term.
Same with Joker.
Just thinking outloud.

- IonSabres

Players and agents are not fools. What makes you think they are going to sign a longer term contract knowing all the same variables are at play now that would lessen the AAV they would normally get?

You will have to trade him then as, unless he absolutely craters next year, he will absolutely get more than $6M per. Multiple teams would outbid that number.

While I can understand this, I’m also on the side of then they give up their salary if they don’t play out the season. Why should they still get paid for not playing?

IMO, that’s the give and take.

Hutton must be waived or traded. Our D was awful. So it’s not all on him.

I’d love to sign Markstrom. He may cost more but will be worth it from a goalie standpoint.

A trade for Raanta would help.

Dream scenario would acquiring Lindholm, struggling Rackell and Gibson in the same deal. Anaheim will have to start shopping players because hey rebuild time. I believe we have enough to get those 3.
