This culture is Eurocentric. Slaves worked for free at the behest of whites, they didn't drive and still don't drive the culture that they are 13% of. Centric - in or at the center; central. If you want to broaden it and I have in papers and state the US is Eurocentric with Urban America being both Euro and Afrocentric but a people who are 13% and did not write its constitution, drive its governing, school curriculum etc is not anything but Eurocentric and many are fighting to keep it that way.

I'm watching the 6th season of Homeland on Hulu but realized I watched it already when I streamed for free in Afghanistan some site but I don't do that in the states because I don't want to get busted.

Slaves outnumbered the "eurocentric" population in some southern states prior to civil war - and was roughly even to the population in most slave states. This conversation is neither here nor there. But to call the US historically eurocentric when the economy was built on the backbone of African slave labor is not correct imo
As for the bolded, well when you're a slave, you tend to be disenfranchised from that portion of society.

It's definitely become much more of a political debate than it should be, but to say people are rooting for more people to die is more than just a little harsh. However, a better example is the way people look at Sweden's model. If you're on the left, it's "just you wait, there's going to be a catastrophe". It never came, and their curve appears to have flattened at a level with just about everyone else. If you're on the right, you fail to account for the amount of voluntary social distancing that is being done there. Schools were closed, but commerce was not. People who are considered most vulnerable have been voluntarily quarantining themselves, and those who are able to work from home have mostly done so. That's not something Americans, especially those of the boomer generation are willing to do. - buffalofan19
Yeah, except their relative numbers are very high compared to surrounding countries. They could've done much better.
