Who's #3?

Also, you would not be in favor of using Sam in a trade for a solid 2C?

- IonSabres

all you need to offer is tage, the rights to sobotka and berglund

and throw in a late first rd pick

If we were in the the mediocre position of the Montreals and Minnesotas of the world, do you honestly think the debate about the guys the Sabres drafted at 18-22 every year would be any different?
- buffalofan19

Those were some pretty good draft classes the past 4 yrs or so meaning you never know

While you're busy giving yourself a vigorous high five, the bottom line is it's reality, and what's needed is how to make the team better now and in the future.

Constantly crying about the past helps nobody.

We're really blaming the guy drafted SIX YEARS AGO?

Really?

Whelp, no wonder the team sucks, the guy drafted 6 years ago is merely good instead of great. FFS, how many opportunities to upgrade this roster have been squandered?

The amount of miserable whiners here is ridiculous

Ion, I know why he was brought in, still don't think it was the right move at that time, but who am I to say. Think it was just a move that was a couple years to early.
- Buff36

These 2 statements seem to be in conflict.
I must be missing something.

If you buy that ROR was brought in to play 1C and protect a young Eichel, then why was it too early to bring him in?

I'm confused.

No instead it would be, we lack the elite talent to put us over the top.

By tanking we got 2.

Now build the medicore team around them and watch them make it great.

- Pegullaville

Perhaps they should keep tanking until they get it right. Got it.

People keep talking about McNabb but leave out the facts--he was struggling in the minors at the time with skating a huge issue and at the time the Sabres were severely lacking forwards but had extra d-men.

I blame TM and Botts, because the drafting has been horrible and the trades made the last 6yrs have been just as bad. Would be fine if they resigned Rhino to a decent contract, would be fine if they use him as a piece in a trade that makes this team better. He is what he is a decent complimentary player.

One of the biggest arguments against this team is that the drafting has been somewhere between poor to utterly awful. An argument can be made that picking Reinhart over Draisaitl is a microcosm of that. Now, Reinhart definitely was ranked higher at the time, which I do think is a product of the NHL being way too reliant on a central scouting service compared to the other major sports, but we don't know that all 29 of the other teams would have made that same pick. The teams that were bold enough to do it would have been the difference between great and good or worse.

Gonna be in them THIS YEAR it looks like
- jdfitz77

Never say never....but I'll be real surprised that they will forgo the regular season TV money and jump to an expanded playoffs using pts when an uneven number of games have been played.
Must be some serious TV revenue negotiating going on.

you backread

I suggested Reinhart and Risto for an extended Hopkins, Puljujarvi and a second earlier to try to change the topic

I was told we were giving up too much

Many of those that said it was too much are skunk and risto haters

The NHL is not getting the full amount of TV revenue this year. This is about getting as much as it possibly can.
