The team needs a more forwards with true NHL scoring talent.
- Der Kaiser

Yup.
The org get's the chance during the offseason to add them.
I'm not holding my breath.
Next we'll hear Kym has lowered the budget on the team to protect their family lifestyle.

Ullmark would make a fine 1B.

That’s all I got.

We were one of the best defensive team in the NHL this year and if we got the saves we may have even pushed for a spot this year even with the obvious lack of 2C

- Pegullaville

....is someone here gonna tell him the Sabres are awful defensively....I don’t want to be that guy that breaks the news to him...I’ll also pretend I didn’t read the “push for a spot” part

I am so sick of hearing about "good locker room guys"

We have been a bottom dweller for a decade but at least we have good locker room guys.

Wouldn't want to hurt their feelings or their ego, I suppose.

Totally my own opinion as we are talking about a career backup who is well respected around the league and was rumoured to be playing injured for a good number of games during the year. On the other Ullmark may be the number one now but I’m not sure he will be looked upon as the longterm guy. Is Botts willing to take the chance on him being the starter for the next several years or move on. I believe the answer may be in the negotiations on his upcoming contract.

Wondering where you heard this, if not here? Seems like there was a lot of smoke to that fire now that everything is said and done for the most part.

I know he kinda phoned it in a bit, but that top line was on borrowed time in terms of on ice impact. It was only a matter of time before their poor XG numbers caught up with them.
- Michael Ghofrani

There was also much talk about him having an injury.

I agree, but there's also a certain reality to how much true scoring/shooting talent you can add.

At some point there's just not enough money/assets left to add them. I haven't modelled it out so this is just my guess but to me it looks like they've got room to add 1, maybe 2 more players of that caliber. The kind of players who regularly beat their expected goals numbers cause they've got that goal scoring talent/shooting talent.

The rest of the lineup has to be guys who generate quality/quantity. Sustained offensive zone pressure that breaks the opposing unit down creating high danger goal scoring chances that the average guy can score.

Good post.

They need to hold each other accountable, it should be part of their culture.

Agreed but if Dahlin was rolling they could’ve banked more points.

I feel like Dahlin was starting to turn it up on offense

- sbroads24

I agree, I didn't like how they used him at all the first half of the season. They looked obsessed with elevating his play away from the puck, which matters sure but the guy is supposed to be the first wave in a new era of d-men. Let him do his thing, play to his strengths. Got Stamkos rookie/sophomore year vibes

It would mean the world if Cozens and the pick this year turn into that type of player.

We were ranked top 7 for three quarters of the abbreviated season in reducing high danger chances.

Our goalies made less saves than expected but it wasn’t due to us being terrible defensively.

They also controlled shot share in more games then they did not.

They struggled because they lack a 1A goalie and a strong 2C, not because they played a low event style.

I have been beating this drum for a bit now, and your gut is right in 1 or 2 more guys...and that requires a redistribution of the Cap. It will be exacerbated with Skinner's $9m and Okposo's $6m...add to that when players are slotted properly, there are several who are over paid for their role....Mojo as a 3LW, Risto as 2nd pairing, Miller as 3rd pairing.

Larsson and Gus as good as they are flipping the ice and holding possession, need to increase production as well.

Brandon is a St. John Fisher alum and was college buddies with one of my real good friends. Four of us had seats on the 50 yard line right underneath the MNF cameras.

It was a great game and a great victory when we left with only a few seconds left on the clock.

It’s almost like I was the tank commander and cheered for losses last year for a reason, weird.

Also, Olo looked decent with Kahun and Mojo...maybe he could match or exceed his 9 EV goals off of line 1?
- IonSabres

I understand the knock on Olo not scoring EV strength, but I would give him the benefit of the doubt with the transition period to playing with all new teammates and adjusting to the game play of the NHL. Once he got his first one he was on a 20 goal pace for the remaining 37 games. He also added 22a in 54 games this year which is only 1 less than Skinner had in a full season with Jack.

Hey guys, I'm prepping to release a folk-y country album, I'd appreciate anyone who would check out the new songs I have up on my website "The Branches Always Creaking, In the Woods" and give me some feedback

(frank)in Nick Folk. 2-5 50+ that year and he had 2 chances IIRC and missed one because bozo D¡ck Jauron tried to ice him.
