the question is, what will his next contract look like...I gave Montour a 4yr./$17M deal in my armchair gm thing, which might be a tad high cap-wise
- Michael Pachla

Gets him to UFA status sooner but at an odd age (30) for another good contract. I think they'll have to make a better (longer) offer or he'll just ride out a 2 year arbitration and go UFA

yeah...but if the guy doesn't want to be here, what else can you do?...I think he went into the season with an open mind and with the way things fell apart, I think it was closing again...he had a real good season and if you're gonna trade him, now's the time
- Michael Pachla

I get that part

Idk that i believe he still wants to be traded though?
If that was true,
you’d think his side would at least let it leak around deadline time
If not just come right out & day it to put the pressure on
I supposed that’s just me speculating,
but it makes sense

Also...
Risto for Duclair then instead of Montour?

Has this been articulated recently?
Or u still taking this from last summer?

- jdfitz77

I would guess he's referring to last year, and from I recall he never said he wanted out. In one interview he said 'wherever I'm playing next season ' and everyone assumed he wanted out. Couldn't possibly just be related to him hearing all the rumors or the Sabres trading for 2 RDs.
From what I've heard he actually likes playing for Krueger a lot.

What's the fascination with Duclair? This would be his 6th team in 8 years. Should be able to better for Risto or especially Montour

I think you see a lot of 1 or 2 year deals for a lower than expected cap hit with everything that's going on. Players may want to wait for a cap increase and the influx of revenue from the expansion team.

sure, as long as Ottawa throws in a second-rounder (preferably theirs)...risto has two more years left on his contract which is perfect for them as they do their rebuild

He had a good two months. He ended the year the same player as usual

he also said at some point that he wanted to be on a playoff team

Rasmus Ristolainen on the playoffs: “That’s all that matters. That’s the only thing I want.”

Again, didn't say he wanted to be traded, but but that he wanted to get to the playoffs. People tend to jump to conclusions too easily.

For the hatty:

The Last Dance fortified everything that was said here concerning Jordan being the best, including the football-like style of play that ruled the NBA at that time. 49 and 63 points against a Celtics team featuring five HOF'ers and a comment from Bird saying," That wasn't Michael Jordan, that was God disguised as Michael Jordan." (or something close to that)

Yeah, I'm in a mood.

- Michael Pachla

It's insane people dare to suggest he isn't leaps and bounds above everyone who ever played the sport.

Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Lance Armstrong (yep), Serena Williams might be my top-5 GOAT athletes.

fair enough...but very few unhappy players come out and say they want to be traded, they just leave hints along the way, see ror, "at times I lost my love for the game"

I know you aren’t interested in the advanced stats but he and Montour had a ridiculous on ice sv%. which helped his +/-

All good.

Basically IMO, his on ice goals were bound to take a turn for the worse

The entire top-10 was on PEDS, level playing field, he still won 76 tours in a row.

It's non-sense that it's even a discussion, imo.

didn't know that as I really don't follow cycling either...however, do we know to what extent to which peds had an effect on the individuals?

Well it doesn’t seem like we could get an Ehlers type

And no real fascination
But a 24 year old who plays fast & with some grit, that also scores 20+ goals

Just an idea to float out there bc idgaf about the Jordan vs LeBron argument
Basketball sucks
Shoot a 3, or take it to the net while traveling,
and don’t worry about playing defense or passing
