Why not be entertained for 3 nights? Why rush it?
Fyi - the time between picks, allows for trade discussions ect. |

They still have the same time between picks and I think 40-50 players on Zoom tonight, so I'm sure they will still have interviews as well. |

Rona's gonna Rona
You cant just wish it away, because of lost profits or the economy failing.
Would be nice, just say a pray or 2, maybe it will go away when the weather changes? - Boss34
I understand that, but if there is a way these leagues can make it work in the summer, they're going to make it work in the summer.
The commissioners and the Mark Cubans of the world don't get on a panel with the President if they really didn't believe there was a possibility of playing. Whatever your views on this thing, the situation never became even close to as dire as the Fear Porn Brigade projected it to be, nor was it anywhere near the Hoax of the Common Cold that conspiracy theorists loved to tout. The antibody tests in CA, NY, and MA are starting to show this. League commissioners and owners know this, and they are rightfully planning things out as such. |

Erik Portillo was named first team all star in the USHL.
Seems like another goalie prospect that is making good progress for us. |

McCabe was awful with the puck on his stick. He looked like 2019 Scandella.
Hopefully he rebounds this year, I was a fan of him as a #4-5 d-man but he hasn’t been the same since he nearly killed Laine. - Pegullaville
Scandella is an interesting thought. Good prior, sucked here, good enough to get a term contract with a Stanley Cup organization.
Why has Sabre management glossed over this? Infrastructure - tools inclusive of atmosphere and core - seems to be really rotten here. Buffalo's FA slogan - The Sabres , where hockey careers go to die only to be resurrected elsewhere.
Why can't KP see this? |

NO! We must all live in fear and not allow for innovation and collaboration to allow for a solution outside of what we have always done in the past through medicine..

Good post
I would say that most of the sports commissioners would speak with the president even if the season is bleak.
They have time: i would guess currently and could be gaging each others stance on the call, not just the prez.
Seems like each sport has different likeliness of playing.
Football is all about the tv contract. Lots of players and staff though. Plenty of venues.
Hockey has little tv revenue. Fewer players than football, decent rink options, but plenty of games.
NBA seems the most realistic, it can be played anywhere and has fewer players at risk. I imagine its tv $ is good too.
Baseball. lots of players, decent revenue. Hard to play without regulation fields ect |

one thing that i think the NHL should think about is that if they can figure out a way to play they will pick up a lot of veiwership that they never had before. Sports starved people will tune in because of lack of other options. I hate to say it but it could be a huge opportunity if they can pull it off |

Seems like the Sabres lose on both ends of every trade. Even with the same player.
Scandella with pommer - even trade
Scandella for a 4th - poor trade
Scandella to st. Louis for a 2nd and 4th - ouch
Ror - comptner, zadavov, gigerenko
Ror- tage, vlad and bergland
Ek9 - myers, Staftford. 1st pick. lemieux
Ek9 - late 1st rounder 2 years after trade

The NHL and NBA have the same problem. If their season is cancelled, they have a lot of TV and advertising revenue to either refund or carry over to the next season. Both of those options take a big chunk out of their revenue, and thus effects the salary cap. Neither the owners nor the players unions want this.
The leagues know they are going to lose money from this, mostly due to the lack of gate revenue. However, cancelling a season causes them to lose more. As long as they get an official close to the season (i.e. championships), they stand to minimize those losses, which is what they want. It's also gives them goodwill.

👍completely agree
I think the fact that many players are from different nations as opposed to football, . Makes the decision more difficult as well. Travel restrictions....

Yes, but putting health and lives at risk should still be the #1 concern. My view anyways.
I understand the $ part. This is devastating to ownership and the league. |

And it’d be wise for the NHL to be out the gate 1st. - dadeadhead
whichever sport is out of the gate first is going to get crazy ratings
I have not watched a full baseball game in a few years but I bet I would be watching a full game every night right now |

Neither league is going to play if every state in the union is still shut down. The NBA never would have suspended the season once Gobert tested positive in the first place if that was their plan. However, if states like Florida and Georgia open up, and don't see any material change to their curves like appears to be happening in Sweden, then they're going to figure out something to play again. They will have to be neutral sites anyway because states like CA, NY and now IL don't appear to be opening up any time soon. |

This was mentioned by the panel chosen to select the remote locations to finish the NHL season this summer
Edmonton, Minnesota, Raleigh and TBD Atlantic division.
Then a panel member said this
“Another consideration: Buffalo. The Sabres’ home arena, KeyBank Center, is attached to a building that houses two additional ice rinks, a Marriott hotel and a world class gym and training facility. In effect, the players would never need to leave the premises.”

Hoping for football this year.
NY just did antibody test and far more people already had virus then thought. Implied death rate of only .5%, which is nothing to get crazy about. Should see economy and sports opening up now.
Go Bills. |
