not sure how the money thing comes into play...isn't the television contract set?...I really don't know - Michael Pachla
It is set, and they have advertising/sponsorship deals they have to live up to. I imagine that in a cancelled season, they would either have to refund a boatload of money and/or carry over deals to next season, which eats into that revenue as well. That's why I think these leagues, the NBA and NHL in particular, are eager to have a season in the summer and get something official in the books.
In a salary cap league, both owners and players are going to be as eager to get every dollar in as possible. |

Any chance the broncos go qb early?
I'm not sure if lock is a sure fire starter.
If tua falls near their spot at 15, I could see them trade up a bit.
Doubt Tua drops past 5, but the experts have him slipping.
I could see new England move up, if he falls - Boss34
I saw that johnny manziel was trending on twitter...went to investigate and found out skip Bayless was promoting tua similar to what he did with manziel |

I'm not sure either. Do they get TV money if there are no games on TV? I know 40% of revenue is gate driven, and they're almost certainly not getting most or all of that back
This is from the BN:
Television contracts include a force majeure clause in the event of a significant event beyond either sides' control. If invoked, the sides would negotiate to make each other whole. That could include an extension of broadcasting rights or added advertising opportunities. However, the force majeure clause is different in every contract.
The owners probably need some return on their investment of paying players. If no one plays, they'll probably enter negotiations to stop paying players. It seems like there are more rumblings that all 31 teams may not make it out of this if no more games are played |

one thing I will say, the sooner they get this up and running the better...first league that gets on tv will get a good bump in viewership |

With a new TV deal due combined with the possibility of having to refund money, I wonder if they would consider extending the current TV contract 1 year and negotiate a new deal next year. This could save the league from returning any money that was already paid, and at the same time allow the TV exec's get another "cheaper " year and see how next season goes before committing to a new huge deal. |

this entire season is now an asterisk...however, 16 wins is probably right on - Michael Pachla
Kinda, the strike shortened season where they played 48 games (I believe) doesnt have an asterisk in my book.
Maybe others see it differently?
The "games in hand" after 71 games is where it gets sticky. thank god we suck and aren't affected by this senario 🙂 |

makes for a very long 20-21 season, unless they're planning on a stoppage due to a resurgence of the virus...
and, when/how will they do the draft? - Michael Pachla
I think Gretzky’s record is going to be safe because of all of this now.
And
We’ll see a Slap Shot effect in that it’ll be more profitable to fold teams and have new teams pay expansion fees. |

And it’d be wise for the NHL to be out the gate 1st. |

Or instead of refunding they just take it off peoples season ticket invoices. Basically robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Pretty funny, I love tua's offfield demeanor. May not translate to a great nfl qb.
Gruden was the trending the other day.
He didnt want the raiders to take k mack at 4, with his tv gig

I was thinking that as well. It would allow NBC to get a cheaper year or two in exchange for paying some of the NHL's bills right now. That would probably almost guarantee a stagnant cap for a couple years. That's probably inevitable anyway |

I would never say never, however odds look slim. They want to see what Lock can do with Pat Shurmur at the controls.
They overpaid for Melvin Gordon, but for a two year term it’s not the end of the world.
Adding a Jeudy/Lamb/Ruggs to an offence that has Lindsay, Gordon, Fant, Sutton could be a lot of fun. |

Playoff goals do not count towards the record right?
Unless they cut more of next season off, not sure if the 11 games this year will put the record in danger?
Couple good points.
Wonder if teams in other sports fold as well? |

No
If they do an alleviated schedule for next year and the looming potential for a lockout, Ovie could potentially loose a season in total games over the next few seasons. |
