If you think this is even a remote possibility you do have much insight on the Leafs. So I hope for your sake it's just little news and still trying to write articles to get paid. |

Don't make fun, it was sad when she contracted flesh-eating disease back in the 80s and in 2013 it finally killed her. - Zezel

I had to rework it as a postmortem joke, but it's classic, comforting Canadiana in these times.
It's like when Chretien showed up to a stump speech in Etobicoke that time wearing a fox hat. When asked why he said he told his wife he was speaking in Etobicoke and she said Etobicoke, wear the fox hat! |

Disaster 'capitalism'. Public risk, private profit. The important thing is the executives are okay. You know, the job creators. Best and brightest. |

I saw it, but Shakira won anyway.
So, sadly, Carrie Underwood was eliminated by tough competition.
Here is match 8; A or B
 - Aetherial
A
She the singer from Metric? |

Sigh. Everybody's going to vote for Britney but if you know Metric you know that Emily Haines should win. This is like the Leafs against the Bruins. The Leafs should win, but the refs are stupid. - Zezel
And agreed. |

So what you're saying is that Britney is going to be allowed to cross-check, sucker punch and lick (please let this happen) Emily with absolutely no consequences. |

Finally coerced my son into watching The Matrix last night.. He Loved it.
I always forget how good Hugo Weaving is in that movie.
Going to go with Wedgie recommendation next, and try out Seabiscuit.

It was our youngest's turn to pick last night, and she selected Mrs. Doubtfire.
I can't believe people love this film.
And the Pierce Brosnan character seemed like a nice guy - Robin Williams was a complete franking jerk to him the entire movie. |

So just for poops and giggles...
The Athletic has an article on if the NHL gives each team a compliance buyout, who would it be?
They have this interesting little tidbit about the Sabres (who they say would buy out Okposo):
"The wild card in all this is that his contract probably isn’t the worst on the team. Jeff Skinner has had an awful year, and scored 14 goals after putting up 40 a year ago. But could the Sabres really stomach going back on an eight-year, $72-million contract after only one season?"
They go on to say that the Leafs wouldn't buyout anyone.
Soooo....
I know the inter-divisional thingy would make this tough, but what do you think would be a fair price for the Sabres trading Skinner to the Leafs so that the Leafs could buy him out?
It's basically the Leafs buying picks and prospects for $63 million.
The other alternative is the Wild, who have Parise and Suter who each have about $38 million remaining.
So what does Minnesota give us for $38 million? |

I think he will lose, but it'll be close.
Ironically, it'll be the economy tanking and not any of the 1000X stupid things he's done or said that will do him-in. - RogerRoeper

His work in dramas is much better than his work in comedies.
Moscow on the Hudson is a hidden gem, although I probably haven't seen it in 20 years - I wonder how it would hold up. |

Couple things ...
If this is somehow supposed to get teams under the new cap, it isn't going to work. If the cap were allowed to fall according to revenue, it would be by a lot more than that.
If this is even a significant part of getting under a new cap, then some teams (not only the Leafs) are going to be (frank)ed. There are suddenly going to be a number of very good free agents looking for work on a limited number of teams that have cap space.
The Leafs gave up a big piece to get cap compliant and not have any stupid or cap-circumventing bullpoop contracts requiring a buyout.
I guess it is possible, but it seems like a scenario that punishes the best teams in the league and especially the Leafs.
If this idea is quite apart from the discussion on how to get under the cap, great, lets buy draft picks from someone. Otherwise, this is a horrible bush-league move.

Didn't the first cap also punish the Leafs. |
