Totally agree. $4,000,000.00 is a totally reasonable deal whereas $4,000,000.10 is a massive overpayment and should cost Bowman his job.

Strome will get $15M for three years:

Man it'll be nice to have Boqvist, Mitchell, and Murphy manning the right side.
Keith will for sure be on the left side, and then what?
- de Haan
- Maatta
- Beaudin
- Carlsson
- Koekkoek (?)
- Seabrook (?)
All pushing for spots as well (without factoring any outside additions).
Slowly but surely, our defensive depth is looking much better. - TommyHawk

I would bet on Carlsson for sure; then Maata with DeHahn not yet ready from post season injury list. Beaudin can start in Rockford and continue to work on various aspects of his game. At some point DeHahn will return and by 30 go at most will ha e a shoulder issue. He will retire after the season. Seabrook should get a look but any estimate on him is purely guessing since we have no information as to his recovary.. normally a minor league conditioning stint would be expected. Although if anyone can practice with team and on his own, Seabrook may attempt to do such |

I’m with you. Know Wings fans here that hate it and love to hear announcers and players from other teams also acknowledge their disdain for “Chelsea Dagger”. |

Always kind of liked it myself. Second City gave you a shout out along with the throngs of Hawk fans “who irrationally” felt Mitchell would go the route of K Hayes.
Ok not you specifically but I took the liberty of grouping you in.
Looking forward to WW on Sunday! |

Have to admit my favorite part of being a parent has been when my kids took up an interest in something i had an interest in and teaching/ working with them on it like sports.
Added bonus my one son enjoys sports as much as i do, so much so, the rest of the family complains when we talk about it over dinner
Hardest part is to see your kids work so hard for something and not be rewarded for it.

Mitchell signing is good news on another front. Zack Smith can be punted to the Milky Way. Mitchell wore #15 at DU. |

Yes, but this perspective on Teply is skewed, especially in comparison to Galvas. Galvas played 3 full years in top Czech men’s league for average Olomouc team. First year in Top 6 role, then Top 4, third year he was Top 2. (I don’t think he will have a career in the NHL tbh, but I root for him)
Teply played 15 games for top Liberec team and averaged 7:31 of icetime. Rest of the season (23 games) he spent in minor men’s league, playing regular Top 6 shift. The dropoff between these two leagues is significant, but minor league is still markedly better than juniors here. Very different background and path to Galvas, though. - stonefire
Hey, stone. I really appreciate the insight. Always great to get perspectives from those who have a closer vantage point! It was nice to learn the distinction between tiers.
Even from my cursory review of their stat lines, Galvas had significantly more experience in the Czech league than Teply even with just games played (120 vs 15). |

He might if he feels he cannot get up to speed through practicing. Maybe only a three game home set or a road trip included to Iowa or Michigan. Way too early to even speculate but when the time comes, Bowman may feel that he needs to see Seabrook in action since Seabrook has endured a long lay off AND his reaction or playing at speed is readjusted even slightly after the surgeries. Years since he performed at a quicker pace, eh.
Common sense dictates being fairly certain he can jump back in the saddle at a quicker pace than the past few years merely from practices - maybe someone on this board has a better understanding based on their own experience(s). Or having followed the recovery process of players returning from injuries,/surgeries.
I get it that Seabrook will try hard to avoid minor league conditioning + he is an extremely determined athlete. |

Assuming Mitchell has signed and there is a 20/21 season the Hawks situation on defense is certainly interesting.
Keith
Seabrook
de Haan
Murphy
Maatta
Boqvist
Carlsson
Beaudin
Mitchell
Two of the last 3 can play in Rockford, but I’d have to think the Hawks want to get them playing in the NHL.
Could 2 of de Haan, Murphy and Maatta be dealt?
I think the most likely scenario is in the middle. One trade and one guy sent to Rockford. |

Whatever moves Bowman makes could be delayed by a trial period-of-time for both Mitchell & Beaudin, even Carlsson. As well DeHahn and Seabrook possibly not ready for opening game. Then too teams need to have a certain number of players available (whom are not protected) for the expansion draft.
The reasons they acquired Maata probably still hold true once play resumes. For a while then reassess how your dmen shape up. |
