I assume AHL bound next season (if next season occurs).
- bhawks2241

Perhaps he becomes our best top line prospect. One season in AHL is an adjustment for a young person to the rigor of responsibility in an adult world. I actually am looking forward to his review after one season in the.AHL. But.a review - from The Athletic or wiz -may be two seasons away if Teply returns to junior hockey instead of the AHLnext season.

If you can have a pipe dream come true then I hope either we draft Lafranierte or Drysdale.

Do not be amiss though as.Teply is someone definitely to keep an eye upon. The big wing barreling down the wing who impressed in rookies camp and had.a strong season at one of those Colorado college - he is another to keep a tab upon.

Was he playing in the top Czech men's league before coming over to the WHL?

Great news on Teply. I can see him being a boom or bust prospect. He'll either develop as an impact scoring forward or flop massively going the way of McNeill, Knott, Iacopelli, etc.

You bite your tongue!

I'm officially naming him the new Bickell. It will take him three years of playing portions of a season to finally gain the trust of the coaches, but then be criticized and praised ruthlessly on these boards.

I think you are referring to Josiah Slavin, Jaccob's little brother.

IMO, Teply and Slavin will have different developmental trajectories. Teply has potential to be a scoring forward who can also set up teammates as well. Possibly top 6 if he reaches potential but at least top 9.

Slavin, on the other hand, is likely similar to Entwistle as a bottom 6 forward. Big body, strong, excellent along the boards, solid compete level.

And just like Entwistle, Slavin has been praised by coaches as dedicating himelf to doing the little things that help teams win and not prioritizing scoring stats.

Yes, Teply played in the Czech pro league in his draft year. It's the same league tahat D prospect Galvas played in for a few years before sliding over to the Finnish pro league this season.

To answer your other question, this is what Second City Hockey reported:

"Teply — a 2019 fourth round selection (No. 105 overall) — is a slide candidate, which means if he plays in fewer than 10 NHL games next season, his contract won’t start until the 2021-22 season. He can play for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL next season and not violate the NHL-CHL agreement because he was drafted out of the Czech Republic and not a CHL club."

You want a pipe dream , how about one between the Pipes .Askarov would be the steal of the draft if taken with the 9th pick . He still very young ,and has been playing over his head age wise for years .And stoning team after team . He has a very unique style ,that stymies shooters . If he is still available at 9 it would be a huge mistake to take a pass . The more I read on this kid ,the more excited I get hoping the HAWKS get a chance at him .The timing is perfect for the HAWKS .

I can definitely see that being a possible career narrative for Teply, haha. Hopefully he can have a long, healthy career.

Stoked about this signing, he had a solid WHL season. Agreed that he’ll spend time in Rockford.

Bergevin told Caufield.to go ahead and play another season at the collegiate level

l have to put this question to you: due to his size, do you believe that Caufield will/SHOULD learn how to play without risking an njury due to engaging too much in physical contact......you know...absorbing physical checks. P Kane has done just that. Martin St Louis had a long career and is a case study perhaps of how to stay healthy in a rough sport.

This may be something he takes more seriously once he turns pro.

I like he gets more assists than goals and gets a lot of goals.

Re: My thoughts on F Galvas, a Blackhawks dman prospect from the Czech league

His timing to turn pro in North America by signing with the Blackhawks is to be looked forward to.

The timing of this move is critical if you want the best immediate result from Galvas. I mean he very well could have the smarts and skill to succeed. Perhaps enough professional experience too but another 1-2 years abroad is beneficial for him and Chicago insofar as to be in a best case scenario of making the NHL from the get go, no AHL seasoning necessary

Because Galvas is a small size guy, it behooves him to be really good defensively when Chicago will be promoting and leaning on a set of dmen prospects whom are not particularly physical in their style or just average to below average size in terms of their physical stature in the NHL

As for drafting the goaltender Askarov, the logic in a post.earlier today is quite compelling. I like the compete level of a couple of forwards expected to be available when Chicago picks (if that is #8-#11). I might be inclined to pick one of them or Askarov and not Lundeen[img][/img]

Maybe. They cold let his contract slide for a year before he goes to the AHL. That may be the best for his long term development. Leaving him in juniors for another season.

For all y'all who aren't fans of this song, careful what you wish for. It's not like you have a choice and we could end up with the BS song that the Rags and a few other clubs play after a goal...or God forbid the country crap NSH plays after one of their dbag players score.

I used to think I’d be in favor of a new song every year, but now I’m not so sure. At least Chelsea is unique, and original (AFAIK as a celebration song) to this team. Plus the whole careful what you wish for thing is a real thing.

On the whole, it could be a lot worse. I say keep it.

I saw Slavin play a half dozen or so times with the Chicago Steel (their games are a lot of fun and they dominated the league this season) last season.

Slavin is big, not afraid to use his body and go to the tight areas in front of the net and along the boards. Don't think he'll be a big goal scorer, but he has a really nice 200 foot game.

I believe he was in his freshman year at Colorado College this season.

I associate Chelsea with this era of the Hawks defined by the 3 Cups and the core group of players. I say keep it as long as Toews/Kane/Keith are still playing for the Hawks.

Thanks for sharing your in-person game observations on Slavin. Always great to get first-hand accounts. What you described sounds pretty accurate to me.

Can you imagine Slavin and Entwistle on a line? They'd own the boards and be a handful for the other team.

Yes, Slavin just finished his freshmen year at Colorado College. Goalie prospect Basse will be joining him next season.

I expect Slavin to play through at least his junior year. Basse seems like he would be best to maximize his time in the NCAA unless he plays lights out.

Don't see anything on that anywhere. Most places have the Teply signing still as the lead.

Intrigued by Teply. If he pans out his upside sounds like middle six potential.
