BTW, Tampa might lose some key pieces this summer. This was it for them. They will never be as good.
It's devestating they got swept in the first round and this year looks cancelled.
But I know, people are only aware of the Leafs cap. |

It would be cool to always have the best prospect pool, to keep moving players up but to still have the best prospects year after year.
The debate seems a bit academic to me. I care about what Dubas needs to do to fill holes for next year and beyond. Prospects and cheap UFAs allow him to plug some of those gaps. It seems that there’s probably some pieces he can rely on.
Yes, the cupboard is starting to get bare and needs some attention for down the road. |

This is where the free wallets for good euro players comes in. Mekeyev's signing was huge. |

I do admit Dubas needs to restrain himself a little bit when it comes to trading our 1st rounders. If he keeps doing that we will eventually feel the pain. I'm sure he'll hold onto the next one. |

The only UFAs for Tampa are Maroon, Shattenkirk, and a couple of depth guys that they rented for the playoffs in Bogosian and Schenn. None of them are key pieces. Its possible Shattenkirk comes back, but if not, you can find a 3rd pair d-man without much trouble. They have a few guys coming of ELCs to sign, but I wouldn't expect any to command huge dollars. Buying out the last year of someone like Coburn would not cost much and opens up a spot for say Cal Foote. There is also $3M of buried/buyouts coming off the books. That helps. I'd say Tampa is in one of the better positions among contending teams. |

I think he’s only traded 1, and that was to get out of the marleau contract that he didn’t sign. |

Does Korshkov have a shot of making the team next year?
Can he play the 4th line or is he a 6'2 wuss who can't fight like Jagr? |

Nope. Dubas traded away the 2015 pick to move down and get two seconds and a third. Missed out on Konecny. Got Dermott, Bracco and Dzierkals instead. Fail.
Traded the 2018 pick to move down 4 spots and pick up an extra 3rd.
Traded the 2019 pick for Muzzin.
Traded the 2020 pick to dump Marleau.
So fun watching Dubas destroy the roster... |

Wasnt running the draft in 2015
Trading down to get Sandin so far is proving to be a great move. Those taken between the 25th and where they got Sandin arent near where Sandin is.
2020, He didnt sign Marleau to that contract. Needed to get rid of it
2019. Picked up a very solid dman for one and a half seasons plus a very reasonable contract extension.
In summary. You're very wrong. |

Actually I did mention trading down 4 spots in 2018. He passed on Bokk. Picked Sandin. And got an extra 3rd rounder...Semyon Der-Arguchintsev. Not a bad move. Sandin versus Bokk will be interesting as time goes on. The 3rd rounder they got looks like a bust so not a homerun move. |
