How many years of losing is tolerable?
At some point, faces have to be changed.

Love eichel, but maybe we can build around dahlins timeline? Those picks would be closer to his peak in my opinion.

It would take alot for me to trade eich though

- Boss34

If I had to trade Eichel, he would be heading to LA and to the Western Conference.

Would be absolutely bonkers trading him within the conference.

Give me Turcotte, Kaliyev, Bjornfot, Fagemo and the 2020 First Rounder.

I completely agree. I feel the same way about risto.

Basically 2 of the only guys that seem like playoff beasts.

Hate to play against either. Risto to a much lesser degree.

Imagine jack playing against the Sabres. He would step it up 100 notches. Twice a year would be more than enough.

Jack plays his best hockey against our division rivals, I would hate being on the other end of that.

Just listened to EJ Manuel on Eric Wood's podcast. Seems like a genuinely good dude. It was interesting to hear him go back to when Kolb got hurt and he started right away while playing with a knee injury himself. There was no QB coach with a 1st year OC and a 1st year HC. He wasnt making excuses but he was just saying how everything just kind of lined up badly from the beginning.

There are definitely parallels with the Sabres and Mittelstadt like "whelp, put him in I guess. Got nothing better."

Also, move the franchise to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan after you trade Eichel.

At what point does he ask for a trade?

What do you do then? Prove a point and make him sit?

The onus is on the general manager to assemble a competent roster to prevent that from happening.

Botterill can steal the clown crown from Chiarelli and Milbury if he trades Eichel and O'Reilly.

At times I liked bogo. I think he was a good teammate.

I think that's a pretty good comparison.

Probably get paid the same amount

I liked what bogo was supposed to be.

What if eichel wants out? Period

Behind the scenes, he tells pegula?

I'm not sure makes people think eichels enjoying his time in Buffalo?

Probably sucks 10x more for him than the fans.

Duanex10 = eichel anger level

He has an inside scoop and probably has less confidence in Botterill then you. (If possible)

What's your % on being fired?

This, meaning Dillon brings a key component that the Sabres have sorely been missing?

Bogo and his injuries probably left the Sabres thinking they had a tough big defenseman on the roster.

His contract, early draft position and percieved traded value ( with ek9 ) left me believing he COULD be good.

And tough and face punch when needed.

I think he will be a bad contract in the end

5 or 6 years at 5 to 5.5 mil per

if you can get him for 2 years 4 per do it
I doubt that will happen

If one thinks jack will want out sometime soon, that MTL offer really doesn’t sound too bad.
Once it’s known jack wants out, that offer wouldn’t be on the table.

I get what you mean, and this isn’t directed at you, more at Sabres twitter, but people need to stop lumping these two together like their value is in the same stratosphere.

Trading ROR is totally different then trading a future HOF’er, which Eichel will be if he plays at this pace for another 8-10 years.

O’Reilly had a career year where he wasn’t even a PPG guy.

If Eichel has 78 points in any given season at this point it’s probably considered a bad year

Don't wait. Start now, right now.

Steps needed to keep Jack in a Sabre uniform and compete for a Stanley Cup.
1) Fire Botts, now.

2) hire Mike Gillis as President. (Of the whole damn organization, replace Kim)

3) empower Gillis to hire his GM and evaluate Ralph Krueger as HC.

4) seek trades for #2C, #1RW and. #2RW using multiple packages from among:
..a) Risto or Montour
..b) Reinhart
..c) Johansson
..d) McCabe
..e) Mitts
..f) Tage
..g) any draft pick except 2020-1st

5) sign UFA to fill positions of need at:
..i) 1RhD - prefer an older vet, stay at home partner for Dahlin for next 3 years
..ii) 2LhD - I'd like to see a tough, rugged Dman to pair with Montour, eventually Joker
..iii) placeholder, back-up goalie for 2 years until 6K can transition in

Targets for:
*2C - Dylan Strome is my go to, Chris Tierney would be a back-up plan...both can fall down to 3C or trade bait if/when Cozens is ready. Domi or Cirelli would be great, and much more costly to get, but more of a longer term 2C. Bonino,? Sure, I'd be ok with it as a pure stop gap...assuming the acquisition cost would be very low given he is 30+ YO.

*1RW - my #1 target is 2020 draft prospect Alexander Holtz...player comparisons I have seen = Vanek, Jack Eichel @ W...I'll take it!!! Package our 2021-1st and whatever if necessary to move-up to grab him, as I'd make it a priority to acquire him.

*2RW - Alex Tuch or Josh Anderson...hell, grab both if you can! Holtz, Tuch, Anderson down the right side would be very formidable. It enables Kahun to move to natural LW side...Skinner, Olofsson and Kahun would be dynamic!

*1RhD - Travis Hamonic as a UFA

* 2LhD - could Sergachev be available as a result if Covid-19Cap Stagnation? F!!Trade them Pilut++. More realistically Dillon wouldn't be bad in this role.

This is seriously excellent. Could you plug in dillon at 5 million for rugged 2nd pairing defenseman?

Same response you had when Tom Wilson signed at basically 5X$5m. I'm sure neither the Caps nor their fans are upset about it.
