Rather than overpay for a name like Dillon, I believe you can get an almost equally as effective defensive defenseman for much less in salary as the league overall seems to underrate that value.

That would be my approach.

Honestly, I think Bryson might really challenge for a spot out of camp.

The left side might be good with Dahlin, Pilut, McCabe, Bryson

He absolutely is not trash. Just because you think hockey should be a bunch of figure skaters with no hitting or fighting, doesn't mean it's correct.

He actually appears to play well defensively in the figure skating version of hockey.

His fighting not so much

If that is the best comparison, then I would be fine with a healthy version of Bogo (one with no injury history whatsoever) however not at the value Bogo was signed for. He signed for an 8% cap hit at the time, which would be around $6.5m today.

Anything under $5m I would do.
With the cap not going up, not as many players will be getting big raises. May see more 1-2 year deals with the hope of returning to normal, the addition of Seattle and a new TV deal.

I agree with this also.

I’d make a play for a difference maker like Brodin but I’d rather let Bryson/Pilut fight for the spot rather then signing Dillon.

Again, signing Dillon was to replace McCabe, who I traded away in a separate trade. It's not taking a spot from a young guy.

Edit:
And what are you giving up for Brodin who is either going to want big money or walk next summer?

If the 2020 first rounder is Lafreniere or Byfield then I might not hang up the phone immediately

The Sabres should fold the franchise before trading a future HOF’er

I would not want to watch Jack destroy the Sabres for the next 10 years.
But Domi, Suzuki, Lehtonen and their 2020-1st, Chicago's 2020-2nd might keep me on the phone

At times I liked bogo. I think he was a good teammate.

I think that's a pretty good comparison.

Probably get paid the same amount

I liked what bogo was supposed to be.

How many years of losing is tolerable?
At some point, faces have to be changed.

Love eichel, but maybe we can build around dahlins timeline? Those picks would be closer to his peak in my opinion.

It would take alot for me to trade eich though
