Nice to see you back. Sounds like an interesting trip. Bubble hash is an excellent choice for self isolation.

It's great to be back. The only thing I learned was that my kid's in-laws have the worst taste in music, did you know that Olivia Newton John has at least 22 albums? because that's how many they have food was very good and the funny thing was this was the first time I didn't gain weight traveling.

I envision big war rooms for each team & probably ZOOM the virtual draft. Also no reason it cannot be delayed since a normal training camp starts in September.

If I was a playoff team and there were no playoffs I would be pissed if I was not involved with a lotto draft.

I disagree. The uncertainty doesn’t allow people to plan for the future. Any reasonable person can see that sports teams won’t be playing to full arenas anytime soon. The talk in, for example, the restaurant industry is that when they are allowed to re-open to the public that public will demand things like: temperature checks for incoming guests (screening), reduced capacity for diners, larger physical gaps between tables.

Societies trust in their fellow humans will take a long time to rebuild.

- 1970vintage

That doesn't mean that a group of people that have been screened won't be able to get together in 3 months time. The more people stay at home now, the less the risk of transmission down the road. They can have a live draft maybe without any fans or even necessarily many if any prospects in attendance.

It's early to project 3 months ahead like that. Besides, i'm sure they're keeping a close eye on this NFL draft to see how it unfolds.

Just with having my daughter do school remotely, I wonder if it might be that society will never return to what it was before, will people even feel comfortable going out to eat at restaurants again? Will teachers ever feel comfortable with going to school with kids cramming the classroom and hallways again? It's a question that we won't be able to answer until we have a working/tested vaccine that's ready to be given out to the general population.
- DariusKnight

They will. The need for social interaction will return. It’s just at what cost? What kinds of things will we become accustomed to then? I’m sure most of you remember the days when you didn’t have to take your shoes off while going through the security line, or putting your liquids in a baggie. I used to travel to Sask/Man with a case of wine on the plane.

I think the organizations would appreciate having as much time as possible to prepare. Who knows, perhaps the league is having those conversations with teams already. I just think it’s irresponsible to even suggest (by inaction) you plan to return to the season shortly.

The hospitals are being pretty strict about things. My father is alone in an empty ward(cleared for pandemic) and no visitors allowed. There's no phone in his room. His cel phone battery died and they wont charge it for him. We've barely talked more than a few minutes a day to conserve battery power but it died over night. They told him "no" for me to drop a charger at the door security but I called and pressed them. They can disinfect it no problem. Its in a package anyways. They didnt put up a big argument but I know my father would take the no and not bring it up again. Pretty heartless... he's alone and definitely scared.

They might let him leave tomorrow but it will only be for a couple of days they think before he'll have to check into 100 Mile hospital on a one way trip. They already presented him with do not resuscitate form. At least we will have a couple of days together. I can't bare to think when I dropped him off for a CT scan, it was the last time we saw each other. All this worrying about throat cancer and it turned out negative. This liver failure is related to the medication screw up by his family doctor I think and possibly burnt out his liver which probably wasnt healthy to begin with. Those meds are for shaky hands... something some people in my family start getting in their 30's. This doctor may have shed a couple years off his life.

I’m wondering why the NHL hasn’t cancelled yet, as well. Surely they can’t really expect to resume any time in the next couple of months, can they?

Is there anything in the current collective agreement or TV deals which would be triggered by the NHL cancelling the season? Presumably there would be a revenue shortfall which would cause the calculation and release of escrow funds, if nothing else...
