I built a 4x8 cedar garden box for my wife so I’m going to line it with weed control liner and then go get a small load of soil to fill it, she loves to garden and it’s beautiful here today.

She’s been busting my balls for two years to put earthquake metal straps on our hot water heater as it’s required, apparently, for insurance in the event of an earthquake.

I always said we’re not gonna have a massive earthquake, but then I never imagined a virus shutting the world down so maybe I’d better put it on as the “big one” is probably next on God’s list to keep us in check

Get a bit of coarse mulch or bark to line the bottom couple of inches for drainage. It decomposes into the soil and you can replace it next time you double dig the bed.

Just busting your balls. We have resorted to box wine to do our part.

The garden bed is almost finished, thank goodness nurseries are an essential service.

Well, the NFL has made it official. I wonder how long until the NHL gets its poop together?

Proper soil preparation is the key. Here we have all kinds of clay so I've added mulch, peat moss, compost in order to improve the soil structure.

The NFL draft is just over 2 weeks away whereas the NHL draft is closer to 12 weeks away.

There's not much sense announcing anything at this point.

I disagree. The uncertainty doesn’t allow people to plan for the future. Any reasonable person can see that sports teams won’t be playing to full arenas anytime soon. The talk in, for example, the restaurant industry is that when they are allowed to re-open to the public that public will demand things like: temperature checks for incoming guests (screening), reduced capacity for diners, larger physical gaps between tables.

Societies trust in their fellow humans will take a long time to rebuild.

Wow. All of that from the status of the NHL draft which is far down the road.

You missed the point. It has nothing to do with the NHL draft. It was just less than 4 weeks ago when poop went sideways. That time has flown by. It will be June before you know it.

I missed nothing. What is your rush for the NHL to keep up to the NFL? Apples & oranges. One is in their offseason the other has been suspended til further notice.

It's not like this thing is going to be vanished by the time the draft rolls around. We'll just be, hopefully, past the peak for most countries by then. Flying a whole bunch of team personnel from around the continent, and kids from around the world, just doesn't seem the best idea.

I assume the NHL is going to see how the NFL draft goes and sees how they can improve it.

Might just have only the GMs in a large room to help with trades, and them be on the phone to their scouts and whatnot? Could see something like that happening.

I envision big war rooms for each team & probably ZOOM the virtual draft. Also no reason it cannot be delayed since a normal training camp starts in September.

Just with having my daughter do school remotely, I wonder if it might be that society will never return to what it was before, will people even feel comfortable going out to eat at restaurants again? Will teachers ever feel comfortable with going to school with kids cramming the classroom and hallways again? It's a question that we won't be able to answer until we have a working/tested vaccine that's ready to be given out to the general population.

Back to my earlier post...

The Seattle e-draft could we see a boon for them with the cap up in the air for next season & beyond?
