I was responding to the part about construction. I know ppl who have recently been laid off due to the new requirements.

Any residential construction that already has permits and has already begun is considered to be essential. It’s number 30 on his new bull crap list of fake essential businesses.

30.Residential construction projects where,
i)a footing permit has been granted for single family, semi-detached and townhomes
ii)an above grade structural permit has been granted for condominiums, mixed use and other buildings, or
iii)the project involves renovations to residential properties and construction work was started before April 4, 2020.

they made it sound like it needed to be mostly finished - at a "certain stage".
The conditions above are pretty dumb. Started 2 weeks ago... go ahead?

My cousins house is about 2-3 weeks away from finishing.

He lives with his 78 and 80 year old parents. Him, his wife and two kids.(during the construction)

He wants to get the hell out of there and he won’t if his house can’t be finished.

Yeah that’s a little silly.

Half way done I think makes sense...any less than that it’s likely 3-4 months away from
being finished anyways.

I am glad I can keep working. I am grateful that the paycheques will keep coming but I am still concerned about my health and the health of my family. It is nearly impossible to maintain the recommended distancing and the sanitation conditions on construction sites isn’t great at the best of times.

This is key.

Is it worth it for the paycheque to have that risk? (since I'm not in that position I can't answer)

Govt supposedly has made it faster to get EI (or the new subsidy that temporarily replaces it) so it is a tough decision.

what is key is that anybody thinks it's ok to put themselves at risk, also puts others at risk. so not a 'paycheck' question only.
it's the same old story of vaccination of your children - and why anti-vaxxers should have their children taken away from them (since it's child abuse of not only their own children, but as well their classmates).
