If you want to say Willy is underpaid, fine. But he wasn’t when he signed that deal. Mitch got what he deserved.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

I wouldn't say Marner is overpaid, that said, all of Crosby, Malkin,Toews and Kane got paid after they won a cup. In addition, neither Crosby nor Malkin who's numbers and clutch performances are much better than Marner's to date - did not squeeze the last drop out of the lemon.

At the time of willies deal, i thought the cap hit of 6.9 was 400gs too much. Yes i know his actual salary is 7.1 or something.
After this season, i feel he is paid exactly what he is suppose to be.
Marner, i feel got 750gs too much for his cap hit and i still feel that way. A 2.85m dollar difference between willie and marner would have been acceptable.
He was on pace for 94pts, he needs to be at a 100pt+ pace
For now, he is overpaid. And i get it, he does more than willie in other areas, but a 3.6 cap hit difference is still too much.
I was hoping for a cap hit of 9.75

Know what’s irrelevant? Acting like they had any clue that the pandemic would happen, and the cap would go down.

Mitch is not overpaid. Especially considering he took 6 years. His point production went up playing with better players, like how Bozak and JVR’s production went up playing with Mitch.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Based on every other comparable out there, he got more.
Based on every prediction I saw, he got more.

overpaid or paid more than he should be based on league salaries

its the same poop

So according to Dr. Peter Donnelly, President of Public Health:

If we did nothing, approx. 100,000 Ontarians would have died.

With what we are doing, it will be anywhere from 3,000 to 15,000.

There will be a whole heckuvalotta people who will question whether it is responsible to torch the economy to save 85,000 people.

Don't shoot the messenger here, folks.

What did anyone say that was so horrible?

Leafs drafted amazing players, but you have to pay them. He’s better than Tavares, but got paid less. So go attack JT.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

I think JT is overpaid as well but i love him and he was an FA who took less than what others offered. So im ok with it

Wasn’t Mitch on a 95pt pace?

But at the end of the day, the bickering is so dumb. NylanDERPS are mad, and will always be mad that Mitch got that much more.

Or it could be that it will save 97 000.
Economies can recover.

Hard to judge who should live or die base on cost to economy. Not something i personally would want to tackle. Id rather err on the side of trying to save more lives.

It’s fine. Because with Willy’s above average season, he made himself a into an attractive trade chip. So if we need to alleviate cap pressure, goodbye Willy!

I am skeptical of the numbers at this point.

Also, how can you predict the impact on everything else if millions got infected...lots of things will get crushed no matter what...and an important one is the health care system.

100k seems low if we did nothing

the obvious question here is, whether we actually want those people (questioning this) to be alive and part of a civil society.

this whole 'economy is busting' thing is hugely overblown as well - or at least it is absolutely not clear what will happen. will people all of a sudden stop needing to buy food, clothes, furniture, gas, cars, etc. going forward?

Mitch is a 90+ pts player (likely to reach 100+) who plays at all 3 ends of the rink.

We are so so so lucky to have him, he’s arguably our best player. It annoys NylanDERPS to no end that he’s 10x better than Willy.

So Trump says wear a scarf instead of a medical mask. It's better!
- RogerRoeper

People are being advised to wear a mask (not the N95s) or scarf or bandannas when going outside. They are more effective than washing hands in preventing the spread of the virus. They do practically nothing to protect the people wearing them

How much should a 94 pt line-driving winger, who plays exceptional defence and took a 6 year deal make?

He’s not at all overpaid.

You sound like Trump. Some people (certainly not me) think that maybe a whole bunch of dead people are worth it to save a few more Footlockers.
