Its a strange phenomenon. What kind of person do you have to be to believe in that sort of stuff? A combination of narcissistic, nihilistic, and stupid af.

The spectrum is too broad to really put a label on. Self loathing seems to be the only common link i've seen from close up, but that's a sample size of 2. I think it's more a new age symptom of depression, or people afflicted with it are already depressed. Misery loves company, and there's plenty of ways to find it on the interwebs.

My one time best friend (and super smart guy) fell down the rabbit hole. The media that feeds it (Alex Jones et al) just plucks all the bad news it can find, (and makes it up if it can't) and feeds it non stop to a vulnerable audience. There's usually a fair bit of (irrelevant) truth mixed in, so the audience can do some 'fact checking', and discover that the mostly unrelated fact is true. For someone already in a tunnel vision state, that's the same as the whole story being true.
Since only one guy is telling them the truth, everyone else is feeding them BS, or just plain blind.

Sorry, touchy subject with me still I guess.
