I should quantify that by saying the far left liberals. I have no issue with anyone left or right of center. Anyone informed would know who I was referring to and it's not disrespectful. It's truthful. No hypocrisy involved with the exception that I'm violating my own rule of not discussing politics. The criticism towards Mr. Tanner was justified. - MJL
it's very easy to criticize people on the extreme fringes of the political spectrum
and it's so common these days for moderates on either side to be crucified for the sins of the extremists
if you're gonna bring politics into the threads here it would be appreciated if you avoided doing that. I appreciate you saying you should have quantified your statement and chosen your words differently |

Since you refuse to answer the question, we'll just go with the fact that you're just using the number one play in the liberal handbook. Everything is racist.
Actually your actions of repeatedly bringing politics and racism into your blog is what is not appropriate. Nobody holds you accountable for that. Unfortunately I know that you don't know any better.
It's so easy to beat liberal nonsense. Confront them with one simple question and they'll respond with insults and label you. That's how you know you've got them. - MJL
I'm sorry, but pointing out that there is racism in hockey is 100% appropriate. I am honestly just aghast that people try to find some kind of motivation or bias or reason for me having to say this.
It is an indisputable fact that a disproportionate number of the NHL's people of colour have had their character questioned in the media. You're free to draw your own conclusions, I guess.
But if you've got to try and excuse it away as a cooincidence, or by making a list of the black players who've never had their attitudes questioned, I've got to say it's a VERY bad look for you.
Just be better dude, my god. |

I bet you are
Can you give any more insight as to why that is? You brought it up in the blog, so rather than blanket dismiss it as racism, please give some rational as to why this player and other players of color have been noted to be lazy. If a player is lazy, why can we not acknowledge it regardless of skin color?
Are you also now gatekeeping who owns “a bad look”? What are you insinuating? Are we supposed to be honest or should we cave to select individuals who like to give “the look”? Pls, share |

You and I have argued about Duclair for years now. You are simply wrong. Was he underrated as he bounced around from the Blackhawks, Jackets and Sens...yes. But he is not as good as this season or that rookie season suggests. That rookie season he was so so lucky...put up a hat trick on a goalie that couldn’t stop a beach ball. Scored empty betters and meaningless goals. Always disappeared when the game was tight. This season the luck struck again as he shot unsustainably high and played good minutes in a terrible team.
To say he’d be third on the Coyotes is just plain stupid. Kessel, Keller, Hall, Dvorak, Schmaltz, OEL, Chychrun, Kuemper are all easily ahead of him and garland and Hayton probably are as well.
Like I said back then..he is top six on a bad team and a great third line winger on a contender. Good speed, good possession, to complement the big players taking the tough minutes. |

Again, confusing. Still very muddy water here on if it appropriate to acknowledge players for how they display their efforts on the ice.
Pls articulate |

Tanner tried to get it brought up with the cry of racism. When that didn’t work he flat out brought it in for life support of his dying blog |

No it's not appropriate and you can't prove that it's an indisputable fact. The simple fact is that you won't answer the question because you know where it will lead. I didn't excuse anything. I challenge you on your premise. You backed down and instead went to your usual fall back and attacking me instead. It's what you always do when I hand your ass to you.

The issues is the extremists rule the roost. So from my perspective, I was addressing the majority who are on that side of center.

whoa whoa whoa.
All I said was that it was the same coaching staff during his entire tenure in Arizona. Why did they drop his minutes and linemates. I think it's lazy to chalk it up to racism when there is so much we dont know.
I think you have a valid point that there has been a lopsided amount of players of color given a lazy/bad teammate label. In this case, who knows though, not one of us. |

Honestly, you're a joke dude. You've been commenting on my blogs for years, despite the fact I constantly make fun of you, and have shown you nothing but contempt.
Thanks for all the money you've put in my pocket, I guess. Been writing here for a long time, and I've never seen you make even one good point. It's actually sad. |

I wear as a badge of honor that you believe I've never made one good point. That means I'm on the right side of things. Here is what we know to be a fact. I comment on your opinions. You comment on me. That tells us everything we need to know because if my points aren't good, it shouldn't be that difficult for you to refute them. Yet you can't. Paints a pretty clear picture.

More of the same from you James. You won't engage in genuine dialog with anyone who successfully counters what you write and think. Yet you routinely criticize people for not having an open mind or thinking outside of the box or the norm. You just fall back on insults. That does not reflect on the person you're trying to insult, it reflects on you and that's not a good look for you. I know when you try and make fun of me that I've beaten you. Again! This can all stop if you just answer a simple question that was posed to you. That was an attempt at genuine dialog by me. |

when presented with the opportunity to be the bigger man... I'm surprised at how rarely we take advantage of the opportunity to do so
i would think that makes a person feel better than proving a point to someone whose opinion they don't value |

A discussion board is about discussing our opinions. In Tanner's blogs, being the bigger man would mean never participating. What fun is there in that?

OK, it was and is a problem (I'm being 100% serious). It is not the only problem. Can people not point out actual issues with these players' performance?
To correct your statement:
Listing black guys with good reputations is as ridiculous as stating the only reason that these players are critiqued is because of racism. - Chunk
That was the point I was trying to make when I listed them. Racism does exist and unfortunately always will. But people like Tanner have weaponized it. |

MJL you have long since proven to be a joke on here that no one takes seriously. Even those that disagree with Tanner don’t agree with you because you lack logic and generally bend toward extremes. Duclair as a third liner that drives possession and flexes up during injury is a great option on a contender.
Now some team is going to be stupid and spend $4M plus on him and he’s not worth that for sure. But $3M in that flex role is a great win for a rising team.

Your opinion of me is an outlier and irrelevant. You seem upset. Did a recent criticism of Arizona offend you?
The problem with Duclair on the 3rd line is that he'll be playing with lesser talent, and his goal scoring opportunities will be diminished. He offers nothing else to his game and is not the kind of player a contending team would want on the 3rd line. You comment that he would be a great win for a rising team. That's not the context. The context is on a contending team. Seems as though you missed that. Also seems as though I know more about hockey then you do.
I'm available at anytime to talk hockey with you. Find out who knows what. You can take the opportunity to show how I'm a joke. I challenge you. Just don't get upset when it doesn't work out well for you. |
