As the cliche goes.... opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one but apparently some here are just too bias to get that.
Two facts, not opinions
#1 (the biggie).....if it was so close between the two goalies why did Price win by a landslide among his peers? are the pros you cheer for wearing habs tinted glasses?
2. Overall, the habs have been a far inferior team since Vas has risen up the ranks. You can look at all the analytic and metrics but I'll go old school with the eye test.
Vas is an excellent (elite) goalie but I would be taking the advice of his coworkers and stick with Mr. All World Price. |

The great goalies in NHL history could carry their teams to the playoffs, the Habs scored a ton of goals last season so there is no excuse for them not making the playoffs & therefore i blame Price for not making the playoffs, especially last season. - bluestar
249 is a "ton of goals"? 7th GF in the CONFERENCE.
Over the last 5 years Habs averaged 225 GF / season.
The team is not good at all. Maybe Price should play wing and a little defense as well to boost their chances?

Price by a mile..... In his best years. Wasilewski is as overrated as Holtby and such.
Put him on Habs or Sabres and see how avarage he is. |

Dumb comparison. Compare Price to goalies with long of careers like The King and Pekke etc. Vasy with the younger generation of minders. |

If you're looking at entirety of careers I would say Price is the better option.
If I am looking to build a team right now I'm taking Big Cat - only because of his age.
Both are really good goalies, Price at one time was all world.
Good thing about goalies is they can have long careers. Hopefully Price can still string together some dominant seasons. |

Yes on Matthews, and read my last couple od sentences. And Rask has a Stanley Cup, remember 2011 I believe it was - Ogimaa
He does have a ring - but never played during those playoffs - that was Thomas' Conn Smythe season.
Rask made it to SCF 2x (as a starter) but lost both. However, his playoff numbers are outstanding. Bruins didn't lose the Cup due to his play - Rask did his part.
My point is, luck and circumstances can play a huge role. Winning a Cup does not necessarily mean hall-of-fame calibre. Osgoode has 3 Rings - but I would hardly put him in the upper tier. He just happened to play for one of the best teams of that generation.

EK has obviously phrased the questions as click-bait.
The question really should be more specific.
"If you could pick 1 goalie to play a 7-game series for the Championship starting tomorrow, who would you choose?"

Why is this even a question? Price has been a below average goalie for 3+ years. Vasilevsky is elite. |

Gilbert brule , is not french talking canadian ...
and Carey price all the way ...
would have a cup if kreider was not a goalie killer ...
and put him in tampa would have a cup too ... vasilevskiy is not a top playoff performer...
- Galchy
How many years are we going to hear about this?
Maybe put a little of the blame on Emelin for swinging his stick into Kreider's feet? Sure, he was trying for the puck, but that doesn't change the fact that swinging it hard into Kreider's right leg forced it back into a position where when he tried to dig in to stop, he had no way of doing anything more than lose his balance.
Way to label a guy for his entire career because your Dman got beat so badly the only play he could make was a desperate, dangerous one.

Yes, because top-line players routinely try to injure the opposing goalie taking the chance of being suspended during the playoffs. It's not like he's some scrub that sees 6 minutes of ice in a game.
How stupid are you Habs fans? Like Kreider is the 1st player to drive hard to the net. And yes, having a stick swung as hard as possible into your legs can have an adverse effect your body control at high speeds.
Stop whining. |

Interesting saying that if this didn't happen the Habs would have a Cup, like getting passed the Rangers would have magically made them win it all.
It's as bad as a Leafs fan saying that if Kerry Fraser would have called Gretzky's high stick on Gilmour in 1993 the Leafs would have won the Cup.
Watch a Leafs fan say that to a Habs fan and see what kind of reaction it elicits. |

He was all world before injuries.
Tell me, if there was a winter Olympics happening right now and Carey Price was healthy who would be the starting goalie for Team Canada? - Kinger34
yeah, it's interesting, Canada has been pretty weak in goal for many years.
Lots of good goalies out of the USA right now. Sweden has had a few elite ones. Even Russia, who has been traditionally weak in net, has a better crop of goalies right now, if there were to be an olympics. |

injuries?, give me a break!
I would take Jordan Binnington over Price for Team Canada, this kid has a Stanley Cup ring on his hand, unlike Price and he is much younger than Price.
I would also take Marc-Andre Fleury who has also won Stanley Cups and would even take Carter Hart as the 3rd goalie for the future.
I guarantee you Canada would win any tournament with these goalies. |

He basically gets one good dman on his team at a time. Vas has one of the best teams in the league in front of him for years now. Hard to argue that this wouldn't impact a goalie's performance.

Why can goalies deemed worse than Price have no issues putting up great stats on even worse teams than Price?
The fact is Price is clearly passed his prime and no longer close to elite. When he wqon league MVP and Vezina the team wasn't even that good. He was simply at his peak. |

When MAF won his Cups - you don't think Pitt was just a wee bit better than Mon has been for quite some time? And wasn't Murray a huge factor in 2 of those 3 wins?
