This is a real oversimplification. Trump is a buffoon without question, he acted slowly and has not brought in measures to insure adequate supplies of PPE. About a third of the covid cases in the US are in New York City. It was always the perfect storm waiting to happen. Dense population, scores of high rises and lots of international travellers passing through. Just imagine getting into an elevator in NYC that is 40 stories high with say 40 people living on each floor. It is not too late, but we need science more than political my d!ck is bigger than yours right now. Monoclonal Antibody Treatment (MAT) is needed badly. Since a vaccine is at least 10 months to a year away, MAT is the science we need right now. - winsix
Yes, NYC is being hit today. NJ is soon behind, New Orleans, Detroit. Miami is expected to reach its peak on May 4th. Modelling shows how this is going to roll out across the country. Lots of states with very low case numbers have done practically no testing. Maybe those numbers stay low but since those states also refuse to institute any kind of stay at home measures I’m guessing the chances are low.
Oh yeah. And yet republicans apparently blame Obama for the (frank)ed up response...

I don’t see the reason in even discussing the things Trump does anymore. I had higher hopes for humanity, tbh. People are venting on Twitter instead of organizing against him, and that’s why nothing ever changes.
“Ohhh we got him now! He bribed Ukraine, Woooo”
Nope.
“Ohhh this time he’s done! Look at how he’s handling the pandemic”
Nope.
It’s too bad social media took off when it did, because it changed the game. It’s giving people the illusion that they’re making a difference, but really they’re only emboldening him.

Think about this : Is public testing someone already showing symptoms useful? Would it be better if hospitals were reserved for only people in diffiulty - otherwise stay the (frank) at home and isolate? What if someone suffers a stroke or a heart attack now and needs help what are his or her chances of survival in this environment? Because covid 19 is 20 to 30 times more contagious than the common flu, isolating will be the best measure to control the numbers until treatments improve.

Republicans are lost, their racism, religion and greed has polluted their thinking so badly i dont believe the party will ever recover.
It simply needs to be erased from existence and started over.

I wasn’t making any argument about testing and of course isolation is critical. I’m not sure how you thought I suggested it wasn’t.
I was making a point that this isn’t a NYC is dense problem because this virus is going to roll across the country.

The republican party has changed so much. It's just not the same - RogerRoeper
All those polite (frank)ers in the Republican Party who are quietly embarrassed by Trump have had no problem keeping their mouths shut in order to get their tax cuts for corporations and judges that will restrict women’s reproductive rights.
This really isn’t new for that party. It’s just gotten uglier and harder to hide. Can’t really forget, Barry Goldwater, Reagan, Cheney, the Koch brothers, etc.

While I agree that different parts of the US will experience peaks in new cases and deaths at different times. A denser population will have much greater difficulty in practicing social distancing. It is rather hard for 8 people in an elevator to remain 6 feet apart.
