I like what Higgs has done. Relatively little aside from shut things down early and close the borders. This is one of the poorer provinces in Canada, no big spending plans aside from a financial bridge until Canada's plan gets implemented.

My wife and I were both impressed with Higgs. He seems like a smart guy.

They shut down the QC/ON border near Pembroke. People are freaking out because they can’t get cheap Quebec beer.

Those were the days, living in Pem, taking a trips out to Debeaus as an 18yr old to buy beer.

That's so patriotic of you to let The Right Honourable Prime Minister Trudeau self-quarantine in your head! Sounds like there's a lot of empty space in there.

1/ basically all non-Asian gov't dropped the ball on how to deal with this crisis, because they haven't listened to infectious diseases and public health experts over the last 10+ years that this was going to happen eventually.

2/ the difference on how good you government is dealing with this is, on current steps and what preparations are being taken by those governments on 'post social distancing period 1' (so May/June onwards).

3/ special exceptions for religious gatherings are crazy. In Europe we'll have big issues with non-respecting of social distancing with start of Ramadan season - and this will unfortunatly create a lot of social disturbance..

4/ of course taxes will be upped in 2021 and after - money has to come from some place, and in most of our countries, it surely won't be corporations or the 1% of world's richests compensating for it.

5/ 'post lockout' will still be lockout in many senses - people still believing any NHL hockey will be played before Oct 2020 are either very very optimistic or living in their own dream world.. it just isn't happening. (maybe a September NHL playoffs between just the Canadian teams is a slight possibility)

6/ in a lot of (European) countries governments will fall, and new more right-wing (protectionist) governments will be formed - which is not good for EU nor for those countries themselves..

They didn’t have buck-a-beer in 2005.. I think it was Coors/Canadian for $1 in Quebec.

Maybe letting the virus rip through the US wouldn't be such a bad thing after all.

You are an absolute disgrace to Alberta and your country. You're welcome for getting the 50% carbon money grab increase cancelled as your emperor realized he would be the only leader to be raising taxes during a pandemic that slimey piece of poop. Keep voting for your lot but don't cry when sports become a thing of the past. Can't have your cake and eat it too commie!

The funny thing is that the only measure of being tough on the virus is when You Shut The Border. Clearly that’s been effective in the States
- Canada Cup

The states acted too late, they simply didnt take it seriously.
A few weeks ago trump was telling the us that their 15 cases will miraculously disappear.
He failed. Their government failed big time.

There may be a few statements missing along the way. He has handled the situation better than most leaders not like John Tavares he hasn't called out anyone or asked for anything.

This is a real oversimplification. Trump is a buffoon without question, he acted slowly and has not brought in measures to insure adequate supplies of PPE. About a third of the covid cases in the US are in New York City. It was always the perfect storm waiting to happen. Dense population, scores of high rises and lots of international travellers passing through. Just imagine getting into an elevator in NYC that is 40 stories high with say 40 people living on each floor. It is not too late, but we need science more than political my d!ck is bigger than yours right now. Monoclonal Antibody Treatment (MAT) is needed badly. Since a vaccine is at least 10 months to a year away, MAT is the science we need right now.

He doesn't come across as intelligent but look at his audience. If he reported there would be toilet paper shortages and 100,000 people are going to die and people will be locked down for 3 months, walmarts would be looted.

He's still acting slowly and giving mixed messages an bad information.

Look how many flights have recently taken off from JFK alone.

People aren't getting it, leaders aren't getting it.
