I will start of by saying Jake is not Cam Neely or Todd Bertuzzi . I will end it there on Jake.

Canucks need to do a few things this year and it is guess work . I do wish all Hockey would announce this year is cancelled and get going on next year. Unfortunately they do not have answers either .

I honestly don't think we have any better options than Jake for a 3rd line RW. None. Zack can replace Jake if Jake is used to improve our Defense(though I don't see him quite as good). But trading Jake for the sake of trading is a stupid idea.

Who is the person saying to trade Jake because he is Jake? I missed that.

And this brings it back full circle to the ineptitude of Green, Virtanen has shown he has another level when playing with better players and with greater minutes.

I have read that Green is great with the development of the youth, I have called BS then and still state that it is Green that is the reason this team is bubble status.

He is a shitty coach, shitty youth developer, shitty strategist, he is holding players back...fucking dumbass is holding the team back from being better than it is.

He never directly compared the two players, neither did I, only the situations and the desire to have the skill set Virtanen has in the lineup. Thus I don’t see him trading him anytime soon. Just my best guess.

3 x 3 is a good number for the Canucks imo.

I am not defending Green so we will take that off the table . I will say Jake always gets beaten out of the spot and I can honestly see why.

In the past he lost third line and second line duties to Leivo who did produce. He was moved out when Brock returned . Zack seems to bring bigger hits and fights and in 16 games has 5 goals.

Jake comes into camp out of shape and has a penchant for the nightlife and chasing women ( we all remember his do you know who I am tweet to a roadie).

I think Jakes misfortunes lie mostly because of Jake and not because of Travis Green.

IMO Jake has played about 50 very good games out of 280

No I understand . I was referring to all the time you see people comparing him to Bert or Cam. I see very little comparison so far. We have seen 5 years of Jake now and we can see what type of player he is.

So you think we should fire him then?

We’ve seen him improve every year and this year he took a big step forward with Miller #alpha in the lineup, so I don’t agree that we know what his ceiling is or we know what type of player he is.

You’re right though, in that he’s the one who gets in his own way a lot of the time.

He was and always will be a really poor 6th overall pick though.

He had a career year on a contract year.

I will repeat I do like Jake a lot , I am a fan . If you are signing him to a three mil plus contract and putting him in the bottom 6 you are doing Sven Baertschi all over again.

You are then wasting his value. You can get more bang for the 3 mil with a proper RHD

Well I place Jake's primary issues at the feet of Green, so there is no discussing Jake without relating it to his use and deployment by Green.

He has been improperly developed, deployed and has only been given a minuscule amount of time to showcase himself. He has shown when given opportunities that he has another level.

I personally wouldn't trade Jake, if Leivo is that much better then he should recoup a much larger return in a trade.

He would’ve easily, imo, reached 20 goals averaging 13:05 in TOI per game. He was 4th in PP goals, only Horvat, Miller & Pettersson we’re ahead of him. He played an important offensive role this year for the minutes he had.

You wanna talk about wasted money, Roussel, Beagle, Sutter and Eriksson are wasted money, 3 million for a 23 year old who’s getting better is a decent salary given his importance to the team.

TGIF... ?

I'm glad the weekend is nearly upon us. It changes the rhythm of my days a bit, and I like the Rewind games on Sportsnet on Saturday nights.

They've got two recent Canucks matchups for us this week. That, plus a look back at the Roberto Luongo trade saga...and a cooking question, in today's blog...

Some people have said to trade him just for picks. Which is a bad idea.
