I also said the idea was too draconian (the restrictions) and too inegalitarian (the surfeit of testing)to be accepted by advanced societies.

That is however different from the practicality and the economic feasibility. The latter would not be a significant issue.

My workday is finally over. Dinner calls. Ciao for now.

You said no such thing. You doubled down repeatedly after it was shown that your premise was ill advised and where you had failed to consider many factors. You do it again here by stating the practicality and economic feasibility would not be a significant issue. Your suggestion on costs alone was way off base. That shows a great naivete. You also failed to consider the issue of taking away resources needed for the public yet claim that feasibility is not a significant issue.

MJ, you and I agree on this stuff. I think PT21 is really just throwing out possible ideas, even if they're a little bit hair-brained. It's OK for him to do that. And it's OK to put a little reality onto his ideas. But it's not really worth contention. All in good fun. Something to keep us occupied instead of watching the depressing news all the time.

I think I've seen every episode of Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives already. And that's a lot of them. I can't remember the name but there's a pretty good Jamaican place in Philly.

Normally I would agree with you but he has been so far off base on every aspect of this that it's comical. From what the Chinese have done to restarting the league. He says the costs won't be an issue. There are over 600 players in the NHL that he says would need to be tested every day. That doesn't count the coaches and other staff as well as the arena staff, travel people, hotel people. The costs would be off the charts. We're literally talking about thousands of people tested every day to play hockey. How could that be justified during a global pandemic? His responses show an extreme lack of intelligence and logic.

I think he goes to Jamaican Jerk Hut? That place is “okay”. Once they lost their side lot (it was turned into a outdoor bar in the spring/summer) there wasn’t much of a reason to go there. They used to have bands play and stuff.

I don't disagree. Remember, I'm the one that started pounding him on his complaints of calling this a Chines Virus. His objections said all we need to know at that point. But, all I am saying is that spit balling ideas isn't really that bad here, even if they are hair brained. That's all.

BTW... this crisis in the US was in the making 20 years ago. Here's a link to a history of the warnings about this sort of pandemic and recommendations that were made to be able to handle it that were totally ignored. It's worth the read and this site is worth bookmarking.

I can't remember. That was like 1000 years ago (read 3 days) in Chinese virus times. I don't think that was the name though. Maybe you're right. I'll look it up and revert back to you.

Edit: it was Geechee Girl Cafe. But yes, he did go to the hut. That wasn't the one I was thinking of. And it wasn't Jamaican, it was African. Here's the link:

I've read that stuff. DeBlasio was warned 3 years ago that the city didn't have enough ventilators and was offered a deal to correct that. Would've cost around 500M. Instead they invested in a solar panel factory that has since been closed down that cost 750M. The Governors are responsible for things like that, not the Federal government.

I don’t think the season is coming back anytime soon. Maybe in another month or two they get a little 3 on 3 tournament going with some willing players for charity or something. Even that is pretty much wishful thinking right now honestly. There’s just no safe way to orchestrate gatherings at this time. I know I’m not going to be comfortable crammed into those tiny WFC seats next to tons of strangers anytime soon.

Ya know bro, I often find myself either agreeing with you, or understand ding where you’re coming from. I’m with you 100% on this latest post. My only challenge with you, is sometimes you become so argumentative and caustic, that it overshadows the great stuff you bring to the forum. If you’ve ever studied communications and psychology, you’d appreciate this. It’s meant to be constructive. I think you clobber PT no matter how smart he tries to portray himself. Liberals always think they’re smarter than everyone else.

My dad coined the phrase educated idiots. Always thought that was funny.

My biggest issue is, people, especially liberals, don’t leave room for differing opinions. The ones that do, I count as friends, even if they lack logic common sense.

Anyway, reading you and letterkenney these last few days has been a nice diversion from the lame street media like CNN, (the communist news network), “PMS”NBC, etc.

Keep the faith. Hopefully, science finds a way to lessen the impact of this Chinese Virus, and stay healthy.

Bring back the season. Virtually. Something like what NASCAR is doing. But better. Now all we need is for someone to invent and perfect the technology so it's just as good, if not better, as depicted in Ready Player One's OASIS. (Or just tap into players' brain stems à la The Matrix.) Best thing is, we can also buy the same technology to become virtual spectator as if we are attending the games ourselves!

I'm with you brother. PT21 may not be right on things, but he has a voice here and ideas about how to get our game going again, even if completely hair brained ideas. MJL beats the snot out of him, and some of it is deserved but not within the context of throwing out ideas. Perhaps PT21 gets wedded to those ideas and deserves his just dues. All I'm saying is we're all good and decent people her just having discussions about stuff that, truthfully, means nothing in the grand scheme of things. I disagree with PT21 on most things, but whatever. I'm here to have fun and have good exchanges with like minded hockey fans and that's all.

BTW.... it's MSLSD. Those freaks are all on psychotropics.

After calling family and friends to see if they needed anything, I looked at two of the sites you offered links to. Good stuff👍

It's so hard these days when everything is so politicized. I hate it. I did not vote for Trump in the primaries in the last election. I despised him. But I think that gives me a window of objectivity that keeps from being a Trump worshiper or a TDS inflamed idiot that would say that Trump cant swim if he walked on water. It's disgusting. Instead, I try to find places that have good articles that highlight the facts and the truth. NYT, WaPo, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSLSD, are consumed by TDS and therefore cannot be relied upon. Fox is better because they always have a lefty on every show, but even then they have a political angle. So I refuse to watch them. I read instead. It takes more time, but it's worth it.

Oh costs will not be the issue at all. Everyone can stay in their homes. Wear a electronic tag at all times that can be remotely tracked to ensure compliance, as well as a camera mounted on entry points to ensure no visitors.

Daily testing for say 1000 people tops will probably be $50k a day.

Food supplied by NHL. Delivered by tested workers. Again $200k a day, $200 a person.

Sanitized cars with tested drivers come and pick player up for practice and games, drop them back. A crew of 20 off in the arenas disinfect all surfaces relevant to players including weights, machines etc, etc. $10k a day will do it.

We come to say $300k a day. That's chump change. They will get ten times that from each game.

The biggest issue would be buying into it.

And that, my friend, is correlated to what I wrote earlier.

I have a question for you. Wimbledon announced that they were cancelling their tournament scheduled for the end of June into July. That is just one venue with a much, much smaller group of people involved compared to restarting the NHL season. Any idea why they didn't consider something along with what you've been suggesting? Do you think you could email them your algorithm? I love Wimbledon tennis. The action on the grass surface is wonderful.

You know what bugs me about Wimbledon? It's the fact that the championship matches are played on the worst playing surface of the entire tournament.

Same. I haven't watched television news or "news" since the morning of 3/13 - the last day I went to the office. It's all crap. Hysteria for the masses to get ratings and to keep polarization alive and well. frank 'em all.
