Masks are what enable social gatherings to let the economy get going again. We cannot all stay in complete isolation until the siren sounds all clear. That's a foolish fantasy. At some point, the cost of isolation outweighs the cost of the risk of contracting the virus.
- Letterkenney

Yup.

I think it'll be a staggered start to begin. Get retail and commercial going again first. I wouldn't envision pro sports until October at the earliest. The players could get their training camps in September and start the seasons in October. Play it by ear as to when to let fans in to watch.

Flyers games with masks is never going to happen.

Life will 100% be opened full throttle before a vaccine is avail. That includes gatherings. It’s not like they will be handing out masks at the door and mandating fans wear them, but people WILL be wearing masks at all events for quite some time.

Again, it’ll be like Japan/Asian countries. Many people walk around in public with masks. Not everyone, but a lot. It’s just part of culture.

Yup. And I would totally wear a mask with a Flyers emblem on it even at work. A layer of protection with the added bonus of annoying all the Devils/Rangers/Islanders fans that I work with. lol

I believe we see the season resumed in July.
Big question.
Is Nolan Patrick available then, cleared to play.
Would he practice as 4th line center

since it's far more fun to speculate on hockey than protective garb...i'll say yes. at this point, him playing in July is essentially him missing the entire originally scheduled 2019-2020 campaign. he would more or less be into "next year" from a health standpoint.

if he's not ready to jump into whatever the resuming season is (believing it to be July/August) then he's not ready for 2020-2021...which really affects how Fletcher and the Flyers move forward with him as an RFA.

I'm quite sure that people will be doing a lot of things by choice including wearing masks. The point is that I seriously doubt that if it's determined that masks need to be worn at large social gatherings, that they'll be having those gatherings.

It really doesn't. All the Flyers have to do is make him a qualifying offer. A contract does not need to be negotiated or signed until he is ready to practice or play.

i meant even further....like do you start planning the team without him in the mix (like they most likely are with Oscar), do you not protect him in the expansion draft, etc.

also, maybe it's not DIFFICULT, but it's far more difficult than even if he remained a 30 point player this year....

i think we're all aligned here. we're just making a point that more people will choose to wear them.

Here is what's scary. They're talking anywhere from 100-200K deaths. We're only at 4,000. Yesterday was a 1,000. So either the death rate is going to ramp up really fast or this is going to last longer than they think. Either way it's terrifying.

it's really scary man, no doubt. all we can all do it is continue to do our part to the best of our ability to see if we can bring those numbers down....which IS possible!

this virus is nasty and it's out for as many of us as it can get. the whole #inthistogether stuff is really spot on. there may not be a time for a LONG LONG time where we're not afraid of this virus walking out the door, but we might have to step out before that fear is gone. just keep your head up and your hands washed!

silver lining is the Flyers look to be building for the FUTURE as well as now

Regrettably, I'm thinking the season is a gonner. But, there is some hope still and masks in public will become ubiquitous. And that includes at professional sporting events. I simply suggested a marketing promo for the Flyers to hand them out like they hand out other stuff that's paid for by a sponsor.

all i know is that the leagues are gonna push like hell for it to happen as soon as possible. i realize so many people are against "no fans", but it could happen.

i do not go to every flyers game. i don't know anyone who does. watching the game on TV is kinda...well...normal.

nothing is going to be "the same" with this year and maybe the next. people gotta take what they can get! would anyone here NOT watch hockey if they started the playoffs in July with no fans? i'd be curious to know why.

PT, you need to know the truth about how the ChiComs were completely negligent wit this virus. Giving a communist tyrannical regime that puts millions of people in concentration camps and who unleashes a pandemic on the world is a bad position to put yourself in. Here is a timeline, all cross linked to sources:

Letterkenney!! Its nice to see someone else who is awake in here! There aren't many in this chat or they just keep quiet. These folks seem to believe whatever TV tells them to think 😑

Here is something I found interesting. Look at the results from today in Philly? Is that because it is trending down or they just didn't test many people.

Not enough people are getting tested. It would be great to test as many people as possible. You could isolate people that are carriers that don't have symptoms. That would really lead to flattening the curve. I hate having only 50% of the data we need.

Thousands more people have it and don't know it.

This is actually a great idea, Scoob! Sell team memorabilia with masks and safety gear. That way we can identify NY fans and stay far away from them!
I can see this becoming a multi million dollar idea because I would definitely buy a flyers safety mask

I know, right. You have to be willing to look at the facts. That timeline of Chinese negligence is the most comprehensive that I've seen. If you click on some of the cross reference links, you'll find other very good sites with facts. And that includes links to China CDC and other Asian sources. Once you learn the truth, it's hard to NOT be peedoff at China or refrain from calling it the Chinese virus.

Mick, the trouble is that we didn't have 330 million test kits for a previously unknown virus sitting around in a warehouse somewhere. Agreed that EVERYONE should be tested but the logistics of doing so will take a lot of time. Once enough supply of test kits comes on line, it could be organized by town, city precinct, township, or whatever. But certainly the goal should be to test everyone.

Until then, my family is now on lock down except for grocery store runs every couple of days. And then the rule is that a mask must be worn. Fortunately for us, my wife saw this coming back in February and ordered a supply of masks for us. We also got a number of bottles of hand sanitizer. They may not be perfect, but they're 95% to 100% more effective than nothing.

honestly, at this point, who the hell cares where it came from. there will be plenty of time to point fingers when a vaccine is readily avail and no one is worried walking out of their homes.

it's not about where it came from it's about how to stop it. with that said, there are obviously people that are triggered by some of that terminology on this board. if it's no difference on where it came from, why dig in about China? people aren't being sheep by not wanting to continue with back and forth about geopolitical speculation .people everywhere have this problem, and everyone NEEDS HOCKEY dammit. talk about that.

I would settle for just more people getting tested. Hell even if they could just test more in densely populated areas I think that would help immensely.

My family is doing the same. Fortunately, my wife and I can work remotely.

Side note. I have a PS3 and I bought the last version of NHL for it. The Flyers are 5-2 to start the 2015-16 season. AMac is impossible to trade.

Yup, and more and more I’m guessing this season gets scrapped and we don’t see another game that counts until October. Welp, at least we didn’t move any top picks or prospects at the trade deadline, lol.
- BiggE

The philly curse is still real!

The one year we look legit is the year that gets scrapped hu the NHL
