When i see panthers home games on my tv package...most of the lower level seats between the blue lines are empty...

Their tv broadcaster airs commercials for ridiculously cheap ticket prices...and they include food and parking.

Panthers basically have to pay people to come watch their games...and that’s despite the fact that their team is fairly decent.

Let’s face it...it’s a horrible hockey market.
It won’t be there for long...5 years max.

6.5 x 6 without his girlfriend

4.25 x 2 with his girlfriend

She's crazy and a locker room doesn't need the distraction.

Serious question...does all the revenue lost from this season ( if it gets cancelled) effect the cap next year?
I would imagine each team losing millions would hurt the cap?

Maybe EK can look into this instead of making up rumors about buyouts

If I'm Hoffman, and I am confident in my ability, I might take a 1 year deal to fit under the reduced cap for next season and then explore my options when the Cap is increased due to the Seattle expansion fee and the new TV deal...Either way, he won't be a Shark

No agent would ever recommend that. One injury and your career is over

Montreal has a few issues as it is, and if they give Hoffman a 6m+ deal, they are painting themselves into a corner with Gallagher. Gallagher has outperformed Hoffman in each of the last 3 or 4 seasons....Hoffman had 1 over 30 goal season and seems to produce around mid to upper 20 goals per year......GAlly is 3 years younger too.

Not sure about the crazy old lady issues too...Montreal doesn't have a great track record with distracted players...

Lastly....it seems that once a player has tasted the taxes and sun in the southern states....their hunger for taxes and crappy weather seems to decline....

Montreal needs to spend money on a 1st line center, not on a winger with bad taste in female companionship.

Pass.

Panthers are cutting $$$. We'll see.
- RogerRoeper

They didn't pay coach Q $6 million a year long term to decide to cut back after only 3/4 of a season. Their history of doing stupid poop leads people to eat rumors like that up, as they're easy to believe. I think it's bs. But, as you said, we'll see.
The way things have gone this year, I wouldn't be too shocked if they kept Hoffman over Dadonov.

For those still bringing up Ottawa, there's been no hint of any drama in FL. I think it's time to put all of that to rest. The guy has done nothing except show up to play.

Not sure about term and $$$ but Hoffman is exactly what the Isles need and I wouldn't be shocked to see them go after him big. Whether he wants to play for them is another story and now that Belmont construction is being delayed, if not ready for the opening of the 21-22 season, UFA's may go elsewhere.

Chris Johnstone is one of the most reliable reporters out there. I believe him. Florida is losing a lot of $$. No secret there. And they spent a ton without seeng playoffs.

I'm not sure how Florida and Arizona can survive. The tickets are so cheap and still so few go.
If thgis was the NFl they would be moved long ago. Betteman is the only commish who won't move teams.

Mike Hoffman is a solid player but he isnt going to get the pay day he wants. He has already had locker room issues in one place. Honestly, i would love to have him. He would add some bonafide scoring to a 2nd line that the Bruins need

Winnipeg - > Arizona
Quebec City - > Colorado
Hartford -> Carolina
Atlanta -> Winnipeg
Minnesota -> Dallas

Find me a commish in any other league who has moved as many teams. Not to mention expansion from 21 teams to 32.

He's a reporter based in Toronto who came out with this about FL, like, two days before a pivotal matchup with....the Leafs. After the teams' previous two meetings, Leafs fans were sweating, and this story made them feel better, lol. "Don't worry, they're the same old Panthers..."
You say they spent a ton without seeing playoffs, but the year was suspended with them only 3 pts back, they weren't definitely out, yet. FL also lost a lot of money the year before, and went out and spent on Q, Bob, and others. It makes no sense at all to back out now, after committing so much last summer.

Only 1 of those 'Moves" were this millenium. You are going WAY back 25 years in some cases. Atlanta only moved because it was an emergency.

Betteman is the longest serving commish by far. NFL moves teams so muchg more easily. The Rams actually left because of a clause that said they could move if their stadium is no longer rated top 15 in NFL...

Is it odd that Hoffman cant find a home? Why wouldnt the panthers want to lock him up?

P.S. the pens would pass (I hope)

Sitting here reading this in the 21st year of the millenium, 🤔 there's something kind of amusing about this grandiose statement.

I don’t see eye to eye with Roger too often, but he’s right.

Look, the NHL has tried to expand into untapped markets. No doubt.

The only criminal failure of that list is Arizona. Carolina has had success. I loved the Whale, too, but folks you’re aware they were playing in a shopping mall, right?

Colorado has been a success. The Stars are fine, tho im happy to see Minni get a team back. As for Winni, they needed to step into the 21st century. They have. Now it can hold its own. It’s not like Atlanta is a small market, it’s just full of transient people. Kinda like DC.

I don’t care for Bettman, but there are far worse

Hence hew was talking to people in the Florida organbization.

Sorry, but Johnstone wouldn't lie about that.

And yes, it makes perfect sense to cut back if you havce no $$$.

Was I wrong? All of the moves except 1 was in the 1990s. And Betteman was been commish for 28 years. So comparing the amount of team moves to others is misleading, especially since he stopped doing it a quarter century ago.

He would have never moved Atlanta but he was forced.
