He's not going to get the Rangers anything close to what the media claimed. That's why he wasn't moved.

Darren DReger claimed Rasmus Sandin would not be close to enough to get Gorgiev. LOL.

Maybe the case, but Rangers aren't to "give away" a goalie that could be a starter on some teams. Talbot and Raanta were the last two that were dealt and each became starters, one helping his team to the Cup Finals.

Not to be Debbie Downer but the longer all this madness goes on and the season gets pushed further & further back I just don’t see how they ever resume this current season. Don’t think they would want to force feed us a conclusion to this year if it pushes 2020-21 back. I think if it doesn’t get up and running by Memorial Day they’ll just call it a wash for this season and start fresh and have a normal start to next year in September and everyone will be extra rested and ready to go. Hope I’m dead wrong btw but this pandemic ain’t showing signs of slowing up anytime soon.

I agree with you, this has no end in sight right now, I am very pessimistic about sports in general the rest of 2020

No one said he would be given away. But the value he has the media claims is laughable.

I had to hear daily the media telling Leaf fans they don't have what it takes to get Gorgiev and how much he'll cost. He's a freaking backup. They were smart to get Campbell for much less.

Yes, it’s been scary, and continues to be.

It’s very possible that there may be no sports being played in NYC even if pro sports manages to return this year.

That said, if there’s no sports being played, It would mean the US economy will still be shutdown. If that continues through the summer, we won’t have to worry about the virus.

As a hockey fan, I want the season to resume this year. In terms of the Rangers though, I wonder if the season never resuming, if it would almost be a blessing in disguise. We all know it was probably pretty unlikely the team would crawl back in the playoffs, but without the season resuming, the team could go into next season with the knowledge of how well it played in the new year without the sting of having missed the playoffs. Getting an extra lottery pick also wouldn't be the worst thing in the world even if the odds were stacked against lightning striking twice in a row. The extra rest might also benefit someone like Kakko that some have theorized his down year was in some small portion due to fatigue of having played on and off all year round.

I agree, Jimbo. I think there is close to a 0% chance that the hockey season resumes. I wouldn't be shocked this point, as you said, if we have any sports for the remainder of 2020, but of course, I hope I am wrong about that.

I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe. Take care, boys.

So, they did the right thing not letting him go for less than they wanted, got it.
Thanks.

Good to see you as well, Brian. I know things are a mess over there, and I think within a week we may not be too far behind out here (although obviously not the same numbers). This thing is brutal in all respects. Makes you appreciate how good we had it.

Im on team pro Howden. I'll give this surface of the sun level hot take before hiding behind a brick wall in a bomb shelter waiting for the backlash of this: Howden really hasn't been much worse than Chytil.

Jan this is also a question you can answer here or even blog about: There is a talk to teams being given a free CBO, could the team use this free buyout on Shatty's dead cap hit? To me that would be the obvious choice of wiping the book clean. Other guys like Staal, Smith, and Hank are all gone after this year.

I took two weeks off because of the scum I work with. It’s no big deal there. I was fed up with the whole building’s ineptitude. Everyone touching poop without gloves and what not. My office isn’t the only one either, post office employees are pissed everywhere

I'm curious how it's going to play out. I for sure can see what you said as being true. I could also see the extra time off resulting on him having more time to reflect on what a shell of himself he has become instead of just being pissed the org made him the third string goalie.
- 2sticks1puck

Agree with you, this is the perfect time for Hank to walk away without looking like he's really giving up.

I wish he would retire. They can have a huge bash the 1st home game next season for him, and then they hire him as Allaire's understudy. That would be my favorite scenario

I'll defend Strome. At some point, you have a large enough sample size where his production can't just be written off as an abberation. Is his numbers helped by Panarin? Yes. However, if it was all him, why didn't Chytil or Kakko also rack up the points on that line?

If someone wants to make the argument they don't want to give 7 million to a guy who may be a 50 pt guy becoming a 70 pt guy from playing with an elite player, fine. If we let Strome walk, we become really thin at center. Though I should save this material for the actual Strome blog.
