I don't know man, I've seen a lot of critical stuff on Trudeau; about SNC Lavalin; reneging on proportional representation; being style over substance; being not progressive enough; being too progressive. I don't know where you're seeing a free pass. He got reduced to a minority government in the last election. I don't see a free ride from the media or the electorate at all.

CBC was ridiculous on this.

Trudeau and Butts did absolutely nothing wrong. FFS, the legislation is there to ensure that workers aren't punished for the misdeeds of executives.

But Jody Wilson-Raybould was an Aboriginal woman, and she played that to the hilt.

CBC (and others) took her side 100 per cent - it was terrible journalism.

So you're saying CBC hammered Trudeau on that? But how could that be?

Pretty much agree.

I wish more people would be the fiercest critic of the guy they voted for instead of treating it like team sports. I've voted for three different parties in different fed and provincial elections. I view the guy I voted for, if he wins, as someone to harshly scrutinize and criticize, not parrot whatever he says like a fanboy.

We need more independent citizens and less tribal partisans. All the parties can suck my balls.

Yep. You don’t have to like or hate everything a party/candidate does/proposes. Good ideas and bad ideas come from all sides

Blindly following a leader/party no matter can lead to abhorrent outcomes

Yeah..

But I think more stuff should be nationalized, not in a commie way, just in a more financially prudent way. Internet, phone, school, healthcare, etc should all be “free”.. And if people need a job, the gov’t should provide work for people who want it, mainly infrastructure or servicing sectors. Also, if for whatever reason you can’t work, then there should be a basic income program. Seniors shouldn’t be living on $600/mth or whatever it is. And tax tf out of billionaires/multi millionaires.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Not sure how many billionaires we have in canada... i’m pretty sure there’s only a few thousand in the entire world. But yeah all for higher taxes as long as it’s been spent efficiently and effectively on things that benefit the populace.

That's always the challenge when folks are worried about public opinion and reelection.

Touting ideology or "common sense" over empirical evidence is another one

This is the biggest political problem we face. We want nice shiny things but don’t want to pay for them. We should be investing more in education, health, social services and technological innovation. Governments should explain the benefits and costs associated with these investments. Instead we half ass spend the money, under invest, like to the taxpayer and increase the debt. There are countries that spend way more in taxes than we do, get way better services and are way better off.

You see that every press conference when the experts either correct Trump or try to crawl into their skins. “I have a good feeling about this drug.” “There is no empirical evidence it works.”

I switch parties all the time too. And I sure as hell female dog if the person I got in starts doing stupid stuff or going against their promises. It's the way it should be.

People that blindly stick with one party can suck it too. We need to be free thinkers, not one party fanatics that think our party is practically god and all the rest are satan.

I remember that. The movie was pretty good, and so was the book. I think I had to read the book in school and the teacher let us watch the movie afterwards.

Oh. Nevermind. New movie. Have not seen it.

They're saying you should take liquids every 20 minutes, cause the Virus produces mucas that hardens in your throat. They did say warn liquids like tea, but i'm gonna stick with beer.

Every 20 minutes? Does that include overnight as well? Do we need to take a series of 20 minute power naps every night?

Yep, and it sucks when you vote for someone and they let you down. I can see how nice it would be to instead blame the opposition, or the media, or just go full cognitive dissonance and pretend he did just great anyway. It sucks not having a team to believe in. But that's reality.

I didn't know about the 20 minute thing, but it's good to know. I wish this virus gets under control soon. Mississauga is up to 110 confirmed cases now.
