Isn't TT and JTM plus Myers building around those picks?

What seems to have come out of the season is the young pieces have taken long strides up. Then you them saying they have lots of prospects that can make the team soon. Doesn't that signal they will get rid of some of the expensive crutches they brought in? Even force out old mistakes like LE that are now ripe to push away.

- NuckUp

No. Not by trading a 1st and a 2nd plus a prospect. That, in my opinion, is not building. At best it is treading water.
You reek of Benning's hair dye.

So the debate is Myers won't help them to keep improving but become an anchor?

Yes.

All things being equal Benn is a healthy scratch. Myers brings a really expensive 25 points to the table and hasn't exactly been a great defender.
- golfingsince

Yeah that's where Benn was brought in as a 6/7 and Myers as a 4/5 they seemed to have performed to those levels. Maybe not hits but not misses more like meeting expectations.

I think paying Myers as a 4\5 is a little pricey. He should be playing with Edler as a 1/2

He also seemed to play better with Edler than anyone else.

We're all just here shooting the sh!t and voicing our opinions. It just takes years for our opinions to be shown right or wrong. There's always going to be some stuff that goes right and some stuff that goes wrong day-to-day or month-to-month so that allows the daily discussion. That's why we're here. We all just want the team to win the cup. We just have different opinions on how to get there and whether certain management and/or players are the right ones to get the team there.

Horvat and Sutter for Matty Barzal

Interesting

Won't happen but I could see both sides saying excuse me what did you say.

You can't take a tangent and puff up being on point. That's like volunteering to dye JB's "cack" and blaming the dye.

Though to respond to your new topic. The debate on building with futures, as opposed to paying them out to add key players, will always be about timing in team development.

The cost to bring in JTM and TT has brought in improvements that seem to have long lasting potential.

I just can't see how he wouldn't be a priority. You don't trade that much unless you are certain to resign him.

Barzal is a great skater and a better playmaking center, Horvat isn’t a great playmaker at even strength, not terrible, just not great.

I make the trade and give Miller the “C” #alpha

I know however, the cap won't be as high as anticipated, is his wife okay with VAN or does he go back home to California? He's getting 4.8 M right now. Lot's of variables are in play. I hope we can re-sign him.

I get it, he likes that the teams improved after failing four of the first five years under Benning, how could they not. I just don’t think Benning’s ever had a plan, if he has, he’s clearly failed at it but because of the system, which rewards failure, they were bound to get better eventually.
- Pacificgem

How could we not fail four out of five years? There is not a single GM that could have had success with the aging core we had, and Horvat being the only Prospect of note. Sure the JV pick could have been better, but we were guaranteed to be a sh!tty team when Benning took over.

I think it is a fair value trade , I just can't see making him your captain and then trading months later.

Some interesting names that could be available for trades. Laine Ristolainen .

I doubt Laine could be in play for Canucks but Risto could be had.

I read a couple weeks back LA won't be looking at re-signing him and SJ does not make sense. It would need to be Ana and I have never heard any interest.

Him and his wife both love Vancouver and she is a young beautiful woman who can find a job here.

I think Jim makes him priority two.

Sure his price was more about the playoff development but he's been a long time target and now in the fold better chance to keep him.

When teams key in on players and prioritize them cap moves are made and so they will with TT. Pushing out LE alone gets it more then done. But there are other pure hockey not business options they can do too.

I think you’re missing the point, the team was set up for a rebuild but Jim Benning himself said “this is a team we can turn around in a hurry”. He wanted no part of failing, but he clearly did, that’s the point.

His opinion was they weren’t destined to fail, he couldn’t see the forest for the trees, he traded picks for immediate help, he traded youth for veteran players, he signed expensive free agents. He wasn’t trying to fail he was trying to be competitive.

Having Pearson on the team doesn't hurt. JTM seem's to get on well with him, both of them have the swag this team has been lacking. His wife is a smoke show

Pitt was the best IMO . I really enjoyed it. Not a classic but I liked it.

I was expecting the Charlie Manson massacre at the end and he reversed it.

- VANTEL

I watched it last night too. I like Tarantino's work, but that movie was too long and I didnt really enjoy it at all. It was two completley different movies (3 if you count the western film being shot) in one that never do anything until the end. And even when they come together it was weak, imo. His movies usually are based on incredible dialogue and then some insane action sequance, reapeat over and over, which works. But to me, this just dragged. Best things of the movie were the music (as always), the cars, and the random products that us that lived in the 70s remember. Plus Margo Robbie😍

Why would you pay a #5 Dman that kind of money for so long? Why are you paying your #7 twice the amount you have to?

That's what he means by bad signings.
