Agreed, It's a good movie but nothing special.

I really enjoyed Hateful 8 for the reasons you mentioned above. The scene where he talks to the old southern general about his last moments with his son is priceless.

- golfingsince

That scene is awesome. He still has scenes that are brilliant but doesn't put the complete work together with the quality of pulp/dogs.

I'm going to go go against the grain and say that it was decent but not great. I've always liked Tarantino because of his dialogue and characters. That's why I put pulp at the top and dogs next. I liked basterds because of Hans Landa. I think most of the others have decent parts but are not up to the total quality of the earlier stuff.

But then again, I thought scorcese's Irishman was overrated and got the accolades due to his rep and the actors he uses.

My 2 cents.

Sorry man, I didn’t see your list or I definitely would have responded earlier. So you like pulp the best... I can see why. I liked dogs a little more.
I’m a big Christoph Waltz fan and he was so good in both Basterds and Django.

After I watch Hollywood tonight I’ll let you know what I think.

I didn’t read any hype on the Irishman, so I didn’t have any preconceived notions. I enjoyed it, like Goodfellas or Casino. Told an interesting story. Took me three days though.

I understand that it's played out as a biography so it's vignettes of one person's life but I didn't find a unifying theme other than "it's a gangster flick."
The final reveal about Hoffa's disappearance was underwhelming (but true life is true life.)
The other two were much, much better. Goodfellas felt like it was moving a mile a minute and Casino was brilliant. Casino was long but didn't feel like it had any wasted time. Plus the performances in Casino were amazing top to bottom.
It took you three days on Irishman. It took me two. I think that says a lot.

I agree, those other films were groundbreaking for how movies had previously been told. I’m just saying I “enjoyed” the Irishman. It wasn’t better or brilliant. Worth watching if you have a spare 13 hours though.

From QT, Pulp Fiction will always top my list. I’ve seen it so many times I can recite the whole thing... did you see a sign on my lawn that said... I think you know the rest

I'm gonna play a little later. 0 kills. Good job for the boy though, i don't think i've ever had more than 11 in a duo game.

I just told him that and now he’s contemplating a career as a pro gamer.

My wife’s going to kill me.

Are you okay?
Nah man I'm pretty fcuking far from okay.

Seems like the whole movie is nothing but quotable lines.

Yup. I told the wife and her eyes lit up and said “movie night? Together?”

Poor girl, I may need to pick up my game a bit. Getting too relaxed being married so long.

In general, the soundtrack is so well used. Little green bag and Stuck in the middle are tied to that movie forever because of how well used they were.

My kid was playing NHL19 in franchise mode last week and ran through 12 simulated seasons. He had the Canucks winning the cup 11 years straight. He finally got bored and had them deliberately tank for the 12th season before jumping ship to a different team.

Hopefully Benning is using Playstation to work on his GM skills during this downtime.

Speaking of movies, the wife and I are watching A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood. We both grew up watching Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood and I've heard that Tom Hanks studied tape of Fred Rogers for months before he did the part.

So did I and is the main reason I can't bring myself to watch the movie.
