I haven't heard anything recently. I think another year or two at Western Michigan would be more beneficial to his development.

Yeah, he was an over age draft and then went to college. That was smart I think for Attard and good for the Flyers since they can wait to sign him now.

I like both Hog and Gin. I think they have a year to sign Hog and two or three to sign Gin. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I continue to be pretty high on Noah Cates. I don’t think they sign him this year but they are closely watching this kid according to team scouts.
He keeps making solid strides in development. Been following him since they drafted the kid and I feel like he will make it to the big leagues. He has a game and every team he plays for seems to do well.

Cates’ name sure comes up in a lot of discussions.

On the NHL season pause and delay of games played....

It sounded like the whole 82 games next season was such a sticking point as a priority. I think 72 this year and 72 next, for an example, would be a great compromise with the now condensed off season. It seems more valuable to have the full playoffs while still giving a decent rest to teams making it deep than the full regular season.

My preference is to complete this season, all 82 games per team and the whole playoffs. For the teams still in the hunt, it's only fair with so much of the season already completed. I don't know why the league front office is so high on not shortening the next season if necessary. No matter how long it runs, everybody is in the same boat from the start. The remainder of this season shouldn't be constrained by plans for the next season. I have a suspicion that many of the players feel the same way, and won't take kindly to any thought of not having some sort of normal closure to a season already in progress.

That said, if both seasons are shortened, like you propose, I can see something like it being acceptable to most. Like G said, it would be nice to have some games to get back into the swing of things before going into the playoffs. And I think everyone should finish the season with the same number of games played, if it's not going to be the whole 82.

But it's still too early yet to be contemplating all of this in earnest.

Also, the league should be considering contingencies for the worst case scenario of the pandemic lasting over the whole summer (if not longer). Would they consider foregoing the playoffs entirely and perhaps combine the 19-20 and 20-21 seasons into one? Of course, that would be radical considering the player contract ramifications.

Anyone wondering why the NHL is against shortening next season to play this season is not thinking very clearly. The NHL is a business. If this season resumes, it's possible that it's done without fans or that fans decide not to risk going to games. Games with fans take in more revenue. It's far more likely that the games played for next season will be higher revenue generating games. So why would they want to shorten that season to play this season? It's not difficult to figure out.

Of course it’s about the revenue....the question is better stated: So why would they want to shorten the 20-21 regular season to play and award the Stanley Cup this year?
