My mind is blown.
Reading Mirtle in the Athletic, somebody asked what the Leafs would do if the NHL decides to grant each team one compliance buyout.
Mirtle said the Leafs wouldn't need it.
I laughed my ass off - FFS, it's the Leafs!
And then I realized - holy poop, they really wouldn't need to buy out anyone.
What the hell is going on?
These aren't my Leafs! - Atomic Wedgie
Actually they could could buy out the Kessel penalty if it was allowed

They just sent us an email saying “difficult times, blah blah, we’ll allow you to defer payments for season tickets for a month and then the 8, instead of 9 @10%, installments will be 11.25%.” That’s all fine and dandy if you were actually taking care of your employees. But no, they won’t, and then when pressured into creating a fund, jam a massive IF statement down its throat. Then lay people off and then continue to slash the salaries of those FTE not under contract.
You want to do all of that and then expect your customers to pay for a product that’s future isn’t even clear after we’ve already paid for 15% of this past regular season’s home games that haven’t even been played? Let’s not even begin to discuss the playoffs.
I asked them: I’d really like to understand the decision in continuing to charge us, when games we’ve already paid for are not even scheduled to resume. The status of next season isn’t even determined, let alone the playoffs, so I find a month deferment of payments a bit ridiculous to be honest. They should be suspended until there is any clarification. The parent company of the Bruins, Delaware North, has taken the same stance with regards to its employees, so why are they expecting any different from their customers?
Ridiculous. If they say anything about then you don’t need to be a season ticket holder I’ll respond well, when I signed on to do this I wasn’t expecting to subsidize a club with no product on the ice and no social awareness and or ethical treatment of its employees. What a crock of poop.
And to be clear, I can afford it, but that’s not the point. |

I just read an article about Sweden and the virus. The government has decided to keep the status quo. Schools and businesses open as usual. The only restrictions are on groups of 500 or more. |

I had to go tick a button to opt in for playoff tickets - the deadline was March 20th.
I totally forgot.
Luckily, they extended it. Or suspended it, I guess.
But they still haven't said a franking word about this year or next year. TBH, I can't blame them. A neighbour works for the NHL - he basically told me they have no idea what's going to happen. |

Bans might be lifted in Canada if the distancing works out, but what about the US?
unpredictable trump seems to want to open things back up fast..but if the infections still climb in the US (probable)...while not in Canada...doesnt matter.
its all tied to the US.
So hockey in 2021 |

This is going to be fascinating to watch.
I just read an article that quoted some Swedish official with an interesting take: kids are better off in schools - if they were home, they'd probably be interacting with their grandparents more. |

but I agree, its going to be fascinating to watch |
