6 years of screaming WE HAVE NO DEPTH
then we acquire what looks like a nice depth piece in kahun
WHO NEEDS OLOFSSON WHEN WE CAN PUT KAHUN ON L1
the circus continues - robz228
A billion years of overpaying guys off of 1 good season where they’re put in a beneficial spot.
Then we watch Oloffsson do the same
GIVE HIM 5+ MIL BECAUSE HIS SHOT IS COOL |

You mean after 2 seasons of being pretty good on 3 different teams with different linemates etc? (With us very small sample) |

would you pay a guy with 20 nhl goals 5 mil a year, dinged up last 2 seasons
or give him a bridge deal? - homiedclown
For a team that needs to add and retain talent?...anything in the $4-5M range for him should be strongly considered |

I’m not saying it’s “bad”. I’m saying it’s not value.
He’s not a very good player. He’s a shooter who can’t score off the PP.
I’m pretty confident at 5 mil that’s not valuable - sbroads24
Are you sure he can't score even strength? |

Sure? No. But I’d like to find out before basically handing him a top 6 contract long term |

Narrative i heard on him was that he was glued to crosby in Pitt which looks like it is not true. He's probably a good depth piece.
He did spend more than half his ice time w/ toews in chicago, though.
Hes probably a nice depth piece, not sure why that matters for olofsson though. |

I’d let Olofsson go to arbitration and sign his 1 year deal, I’d give Reinhart and Montour short term deals and make them earn their big pay days, if they do so be it we can either pay them what they are worth or get a nice return in a trade. |

If we signed him long term i'd want it to be 4-4.5. I think thats the 2nd worst option. A 3-4 year deal would be a disaster.
Sign him for 2 years at like 3.5 or something then lets see. The 5 million number was a hypothetical on a terrible bridge deal. |

I think the evidence is exactly the opposite. He's an elite level shooter with a meh all around game. That's NOT a good depth player.
If you don't want that on your team its because you think the powerplay is useless.

Reinhart already earned his payday. Like it or not his league value is going to be at least 8 million. 0 chance he signs another short term deal. |

I’d do a 1 year deal. Find out what he is exactly (don’t glue him to Eichel 5 on 5) maybe he’s better off L1.
The issue for me is that he doesn’t provide value on L1 right now. Maybe he does down the lineup. We don’t know though because the coach tried it for 20 min all season |

If this was true, wouldn't his elite level shooting translate to goals at all game states, not just the powerplay?
I dont think powerplay is useless, i think it's one area of the game that we all know goes hot and cold for long stretches.
If you're paying 5 mil just for that and mediocre results at every other state, the value to your team is effectively replacement level. Which on the right kind of deal can actually be good, but not a long term one. |

0 chance he gets 8 mil. He’s legit never been a top 50 scorer in the league and isn’t really viewed as a star. 0 chance |

Maybe I’m way off but I just can’t see it.
If he was a center, maybe. But I don’t think his perceived value is that of a top 30 AAV player |

I'd be willing to bank on him not being a 8% even strength shooter |

Ok and now we have a $9M winger who creates chances galore but doesn’t score.
Combing Olofsson’s shot and passing ability with Skinner’s ability to create then you have a winger worth $9M |

Ultimately what it comes down to. Idk, if he was shooting 8% playing with mojo and vesey, that'd be one thing. But Eichel and Reinhart put guys in positions to inflate their sh%.
Im not saying it can't go up, but given his age, skillset and who he played with, im not totally comfortable banking on it with a long term deal. But I'll happily write the im an idiot blog if im wrong. |

Reinhart will get $7-7.25M
If he wants more, trade him to Minnesota now for Brodin. |
