My optimistic side of me hopes that a combination of a ventilator as well as the potential malaria drug combo will save lives. Below is from a NY Post article:

"The president apparently was referring to a Gateway Pundit pickup of an op-ed that appeared in The Post Friday by former Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey, who said that in 2015, Cuomo and other state officials learned that in a potential pandemic, New York would need 18,000 ventilators but only had 2,000 on hand.

Then-state health commissioner Howard Zucker assembled a task force for rationing the ventilators they already had that recommended that the state not purchase the 16,000 ventilators because there weren’t enough doctors and medical personnel to operate them.

Instead, the task force devised a classification system to prioritize which patients would be treated on a ventilator."

But why are we surprised about the above, classifying patients is textbook government run healthcare. You are seeing it in Italy right now, you are s&%$ out of luck if you are 80 and older.

its no different than a transplant list, that isn't unique to government run healthcare

an 80 year old man is not going to get a liver before a 45 year old woman, just like a ventilator

i know. im just confused how buffalokb thinks it was unpreparedness at a state level when that is almost unilaterally false.

IMO, nobody can be fully prepared for a pandemic that occurs on average once or twice in a 100 years. It simply is not economically possible, nor reasonable to expect. Too costly to allow a stockpile of paid assets to sit waiting...as well as how fast they become outdated over years not to mention decades. Should we really expect to have the Govt sitting on 100,000 ventilators and then replacing them every 10 years with modern versions? If so, why not Dialysis machines, why not....where does the list end?

Me thinks next month government will open economy up. People will die as they do with many other sicknesses. The way Americans are they will forget this is a couple years. Most people can’t even remember h1n1 in here from only a couple years ago.

People aren’t even listening to stay at home orders now. Spring break, quarantine parties people don’t care as long as it doesn’t effect them.

Im not usually a Richard on here but why do people say "Me thinks" do you say that in real conversation or is it just some phrase used when typing?

I think me thinks is stupid

no i agree. we just had to react faster. instead of "theres only 15 people here, which will soon be close to nothing" -- we should have declared a state of emergency immediately and aggressively quarantined any international travelers and freed up states to prepare as many tests as possible to identify patients

in the end it may not have mattered. people just ignore orders. but a clear message of "this is serious" from the top down might have made an impact.

Hindsight is always 20-20, but the NY State government was advised that they would need 18,000 ventilators if a pandemic were to ever occur, but only had 2,000, 11% of a crucial medical instrument? With all the threats of bio-warfare as well as governing the biggest and most targeted city in the world, that is a failure. If most of these governors and politicians ran a small business they would bankrupt it in less than 3 months.

Actually he doesn't have more. Kelly has 244.
Also, the totals wouldn't be close if Kelly skipped his senior year like Cam and didn't miss 2 years in his prime playing in the USFL. You want to add his 83 TDs in the USFL to his total?

- adambuffalo

So what about the years cam has left ? Anyway you put it cam will have more TDS in the end and maybe more wins

That is obvious to anyone with common sense. Unfortunately most people don’t have that. You don’t go on tv and tell people in one month he’s closing your job and keeping you in your home. Would of been chaos. And he would of been criticized for it
- Fattony1187

Yeah, I know. Now obviously he didn’t word it the best When he originally came out and said it was a hoax

Donald Trump is probably the least eloquent Presidents this country has ever had. It makes him ripe for media hysteria.

It's a balancing act, all of it.

It is clear to me, from Trumps comments early on, that the CDC failed miserably with test kits that ultimately proved defective, not to mention the centralized process for a pandemic was assine...leading to a complete overhaul of the process, kits, devices and labs. It took time to get that done.
Coming out with a stringent lockdown early on would have led to further public panic and crumbled the economy instantly. Would you really have want that? Remember, if they had done that earlier on before announcing the plan and timeline it would have been disaster of epic proportions.

not a stringent lockdown, just quarantining high risk travelers and letting local governments prepare.

a reporter from the atlantic was in italy for 2 weeks covering the coronavirus, flew back in to JFK and wasn't even questioned about it. that is absolutely batpoop insane.

Cam Newton was the MVP of the 2015 season...leading Carolina to a 15-1 record and an appearance in Super Bowl 50. Cam since then:

Cam Newton Since Start of 2016

NFL Rank<<

QBR 48.9 30th

TD-Int 65-44 30th

Comp pct 60% 33rd

>>Out of 39 qualified QBs (min. 20 starts)

Cam has been toast for years.

I looked it up for you. This answer from Urban Dictionary seems to hit all the main points.

methinks:

Another way to say 'i think'. First seen in culture in William Shakespeare's play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', used by the servant Puck (you're impressed). But the worlds nerd subculture became enthralled with the term, when the term was used by Jar-Jar Binks in Star Wars I: Phantom Menace, hallowed be thy name, and is used by NORMAL PEOPLE in conversation. Sometimes used at the end of a sentence, to add an opinion (example 2).

Example 1: Methinks I'm bored.

Example 2: That's a nice arse methinks.

If I were you, I'd cite Shakespeare as your source. His mastery of the English language cannot be denied. If you're doing it because Jar-Jar did it, then shame.
