name the capable nhl d-men...

outside of risto, dahlin, montour, miller, McCabe, Scandella, joker (who was a pleasant surprise as a 20 yr. old,) who else?

Completely unacceptable when these problems were clearly on display in July. It was obvious that this would happen. The upshot is that it only wasted one more season in a decade of wasted seasons?

It was a needless waste of a season

- jcragcrumple

imo, one of the big things was moving on from certain contracts...i'm not happy with how it transpired, and if you think they were gonna get a second-line center for any d-man other that risto and dahlin, that's your fault...

my biggest problems with botts this year, other than he couldn't land that #2 center (which would have taken a lot and many here b!tch about that, see ror,) were the:

--Scandella/frolik
--Vesey
--not moving on from bogo sooner

3-McCabe
4-Pilut
5-Gilmour
6-Risto
7-Montour
8-Miller
9-Joker
10-Bogo
11-Nelson
12-Borgen

We can debate Gilmour and Borgen all day now, yet in Training Camp those 2 looked decent..especially for 7th or 8th.

Point is, when you typically play 6 in 95% of the games, having 10 is too many.

Also, LWs before we go there

2 serious questions...
1) has anyone become a patron to Evolving Wild to get a copy of their Contract Projections?
2) does anyone know of a reliable site that tabulated the number of Covid-19 tests actually conducted?

- IonSabres

CDC.Gov:

COVID-19: U.S. at a Glance*

Total cases: 44,183
Total deaths: 544
Jurisdictions reporting cases: 54 (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and US Virgin Islands)

* Data include both confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 reported to CDC or tested at CDC since January 21, 2020, with the exception of testing results for persons repatriated to the United States from Wuhan, China and Japan. State and local public health departments are now testing and publicly reporting their cases. In the event of a discrepancy between CDC cases and cases reported by state and local public health officials, data reported by states should be considered the most up to date.

It's been a needless waste of a decade, not just Botts 3yrs, from bad drafting to trades that hurt the future of the franchise to speed up a rebuild that had just started. Failure of 3 GM'S
- Buff36

botts was put in a difficult situation, one that a newbie really shouldn't be put in unless he has some guidance from a higher up...black, brandon and kimmy p. don't count

whelp, we can discount bogo because everyone here said he shouldn't even be in an nhl uniform...

pilut was injured to start the season and needed time to get up to speed...plus, based upon the second half of last season, he needed a lot of time in Rochester

Gilmour is not an nhl d-man as his 37 games in three seasons might indicate

nelson seems like a tweener

and Borgen is not ready...in fact, it would behoove the team to keep him in Rochester another season and not rush him.

we can (and will) argue whether or not he should be gm in buffalo, but guess what, y'all, i'm 90% sure he'll be back next season...especially with the covid-19 shutdown...

Thanks, but that is tested right? What is the "presumptive positive"?... I assume that is a certain % of already tested but for which no results are known at that time.
I'm trying to understand the raw number of tested.

I think that's the biggest thing with it in the u.s...the still haven't compiled enough data on the tests they've done plus, nobody knows who's got it and there aren't nearly enough tests to find out

I think that was his own doing with the exception of bogo. He chose all those guys whether via trade or signing. So him having to wait for his own guys to leave isn't a glowing endorsement.

And if hes still here, god knows he'll re-sign some of these terrific players

I was pointing out the CDC web site. They are relying on the states but are compiling numbers as well.

I already thought that to be honest, I have come to the reality that this was what was planned when he was hired, build the Organization from the bottom to the top back up and fill spots with short term commitments. I don't know if Botts is the guy to do it. But I do believe this offseason was in the plan all along.

which is transitioning from murray to botts...

he inherited bogo, Okposo and risto's contracts which totaled over $16m and only one of those players was moveable..

he signed skinner long-term and traded for miller who had three years on his deal...

seven players 25 yrs. old and up are free agents after this season (including 2 rfa's) and another, Johansson, is signed through 21-22

so where is the problem?

I kind of felt that way myself...look at how many free agents there are at the end of the season
